Hamilton Township scored the final 21 points of a Mid-State League Buckeye Division game on Friday on its way to a 41-14 win over host Logan Elm.
The Rangers rushed for 491 yards out of their double wing offense, led by Nadir Langston covering 164 yards on just seven carries and scoring a pair of touchdowns.
Logan Elm trimmed its deficit down to just 20-14 with nine minutes remaining on a 27-yard touchdown strike from Garret Summers to Ethan Smith. Jude Braun added his second extra point of the game.
The Rangers countered with long touchdown runs of 66 and 76 yards by Langston and put a cap on the night with a 91-yard run courtesy of Aamen Whitson.
Taliq Black opened up scoring in the first quarter on a nine-yard run to put the Rangers ahead 7-0.
The Braves responded with Summers hitting Smith on a 19-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 7-7.
Hamilton Township used a seven-yard touchdown run by T.J. Black later in the second quarter to take a 13-7 lead into the break.
T.J. Black expanded the Rangers’ lead to 20-7 early in the fourth quarter on a 44-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-six.
Summers completed 12 of 23 passes for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Braves. Braun caught two of those passes for 59 yards.
Blayton Reid paced the Braves’ ground game with 89 yards on 17 carries.
The Rangers (2-0, 1-0) host Fairfield Union (1-3, 0-1) next week and the Braves (2-2, 0-1) entertain Circleville in the annual Backyard Brawl contest.
