Vikings tame Tigers for MSL-Buckeye baseball win

Teays Valley used a two-run fifth inning to seize the lead for good on Monday in a 5-2 Mid-State League Buckeye Division baseball win over visiting Circleville.
Noah Morbitzer reached on an error with two outs that allowed Peyton Weiler to score and give the Vikings a 3-2 lead. A.J. Moniaci followed with a double to center that scored Morbitzer.
The Vikings tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Will Murphy reached on an error and eventually scored.
Peyton Weiler paced the Vikings by going 3-for-4 and scored twice and Tyler Love went 2-for-3.
Wyatt Thatcher was 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the Tigers and Matt Bradley went 2-for-2 and scored.
Sam Sethna earned the win for the Vikings by scattering four hits and a pair of unearned runs over six innings. He walked a batter and struck out two. Brandon Smith nailed down the save, walking one and striking out a batter to record the final three outs.
The Vikings (11-6, 7-4) travel to Pickerington Central on Tuesday for a non-league game, while the Tigers (9-10, 6-6) continue league play on Wednesday when they host Hamilton Township.

Amanda-Clearcreek 9,
Fairfield Union 0

Amanda-Clearcreek took advantage of nine errors to score eight unearned runs on Monday in a 9-0 MSL-Buckeye win over visiting Fairfield Union.
The Aces scored once in the first and twice in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Peyton Cassley went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, Trent Hedges doubled and scored twice, Ryan Chambers singled and scored twice and Blayne Barker doubled and drove in a run to pace the Aces.
Cassley checked the Falcons to four hits over five and one-third innings to earn the win. He walked one and struck out nine.
The Aces (11-5, 8-4) host Hamilton Township on Tuesday for a league tilt.

Bloom-Carroll 8,
Logan Elm 0

Brandon Totter and Beau Wisecarver combined for a one-hitter on Monday, leading Bloom-Carroll to an 8-0 MSL-Buckeye win over host Logan Elm.
The Bulldogs scored a run in each of their first three at-bats to take a 3-0 lead.
Garret Summers singled for the Braves (6-11, 4-8), who travel to Washington Court House on Tuesday for a non-league game.

Unioto 2,’
Westfall 1

Westfall scored once in its final at-bat on Monday but fell to visiting Unioto 2-1 in a Scioto Valley Conference matchup.
The Shermans took a 1-0 lead in the first and tacked on a vital insurance run in their half of the seventh to go ahead 2-0.
Peyton Weiss suffered the tough loss, allowing six hits and two runs (one earned) in a complete game effort. He walked one and struck out 10.
Bryce Wickline doubled and drove in a run and Hunter McCoy doubled and scored for the Mustangs (6-10, 4-8), who host Briggs on Tuesday for a non-conference game.

Softball
Unioto 18,
Westfall 5

Unioto pounded out 20 hits on Monday as it rolled to an 18-5 SVC win over host Westfall.
The Shermans scored six runs in the third to go ahead 7-2 and tacked on 11 more runs in their final two at-bats to complete the run-rule win.
Sydney Fuller hit a solo home run as part of a 2-for-3 day with an RBI and run scored for the Mustangs (13-7, 8-4), who continue conference play on Tuesday at Zane Trace.

Bloom-Carroll 3,
Logan Elm 2

Jacie Clifton had a two-run single in the sixth on Monday for Logan Elm in a 3-2 MSL-Buckeye loss to visiting Bloom-Carroll.
Avree Entler and Carly King scored on the Clifton single. King and Clifton had two hits apiece for the Braves.
