Circleville senior Morgan Blakeman was named player of the year in Divisions I and II on Monday by the District 14 volleyball coaches association. District 14 includes schools in the western half of the Southeast District.
Blakeman, who surpassed career milestones of1,000 kills and 1,000 digs earlier this month, has complied 372 kills, 40 aces, 44 blocks and 387 digs entering Monday night’s district semifinal against Unioto at Logan High School.
Circleville coach Danielle Perkins was recognized as coach of the year for leading the Tigers to a 19-3 record during the regular-season and a second-place finish in the Mid-State League Buckeye Division.
Blakeman was joined on first-team by senior teammate Cara Cooper. Circleville junior Gabby McConnell earned second-team honors, alongside Logan Elm freshman Claire King and junior Lynsay VanHoose.
In Division III, Westfall junior Lauryn Blackburn made third-team and sophomore Karli Thronton was honorable mention.
