Expectations: Teays Valley lost state qualifying pole vaulter Natalie Newton to graduation after she finished ninth last June in Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Shae Shackleford, who won the league championship in the high jump last season, highlights returnees for the Vikings that also includes Ryleigh McCoy, Lauren Sharrock and Kaitlyn Stiffler from the 4×200 relay team that finished second in the league.
Sharrock also was second in the long jump and McCoy claimed second in the 400.
“Our focus is for everyone to work their hardest so they can realize their potential,” coach Megan Tamasovich said.
“We have some experience in sprints and some of the field events. In distance, we’re very young, but we’re confident that those in the group can also strive to maximize their potential.”
