Mustangs run-rule Bearcats in five innings

Olivia Dumm fired a one-hitter on Monday to help Westfall run-rule visiting Paint Valley 12-0 in a five-inning Scioto Valley Conference game.


Dumm threw 78 pitches, 53 for strikes, walked a pair of batters and struck out 10.


The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second.


Gabby Henry singled to left and advanced to second on the play due to an error. A pair of wild pitches then allowed Henry to come around and score.

Emma Henry later legged out an infield single to third and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Madison Kearney.


Westfall sent 14 batters to the plate in the third, registered nine hits and scored 10 times.


Ava Heath led off the onslaught with a solo shot over the center field fence.


Dumm followed with a double to right with courtesy runner Sophia Henson eventually scoring on a sacrifice from Gabby Henry.


The Mustangs went on to score runs off an RBI double from Sydney Fuller and singles by Grace Long, Kearney and Makayla Cook, in addition to taking advantage of a pair of Paint Valley errors.

Westfall’s Olivia Dumm tossed a one-hitter on Monday.


Delana Landefeld went 2-for-3 and scored, Dumm went 2-for-3 and Emma Henry was a perfect 2-for-2 and scored twice for the Mustangs.


Westfall (3-4, 2-1) continues conference play on Wednesday at Piketon.
