Teays Valley scored three runs in its first at-bat on Wednesday and didn’t look back in an 8-1 Mid-State League Buckeye Division win over visiting Liberty Union.
Ben France was hit by a pitch with one out in the first and later scored when Hayden Wells lined a single to center.
Wells then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball.
After walks to Ivan Smith and Matt Farmer, Landen McFarland singled to center to drive in Wells and Vandegrift.
Liberty Union scored its run in the third, with Teays Valley countering an inning later.
France singled to left with two outs, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored when Wells lined a single to left.
The Vikings scored their final four runs in the sixth.
Wells went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, Jeremiah Fabbro was 2-for-4 and scored.
Farmer allowed five hits and an unearned run in a 95-pitch complete game outing. He walked none and struck out 13.
The Teays Valley senior right-hander improved to 7-1 on the season and pitched his seventh complete game.
The Vikings (12-5, 9-3) continue league play on Friday at Bloom-Carroll.
