TV grad Carson named Regional Player of the Year

Brett Carson had his hand in a little of everything this season for Marietta College.

And the Teays Valley graduate was rightfully recognized for a banner final season for the Pioneers by being named Region 7 Player of the Year.

The teams were compiled by D3baseball.com based on more than 1,000 nominations from the colleges and universities that make up Division III baseball. The website than divided the country into nine different regions.

Carson, who was previously recognized as Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year, batted .416 with 21 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs and 59 RBI.

He also compiled a 5-2 record with 1.87 ERA when he toed the rubber. Carson made 14 appearances, including starting seven games, and allowed 37 hits in 53 innings pitched. The southpaw struck out 65 and walked 25 and had an opponent’s batting average of .196.

Carson, who led the Pioneers to a regional championship and hosting a Super Regional, is now looking for an opportunity to prove himself at the professional level, calling it, “a dream of mine since I was a little kid.”
