Camden McDanel is in the midst of a year to remember with his performance on the mat.
The Teays Valley graduate recently proved that he can also excel in the classroom.
USA Wrestling named McDanel to its Academic All-American first-team for 2023 with a 4.237 GPA.
The Nebraska signee was one of just 26 wrestlers nationwide to earn a spot on the first-team.
McDanel capped his prep career back in March by winning a state championship at 190 pounds and has followed that up by claiming the Under-20 U.S. Open Freestyle Championship at 97 kilograms (213.85 pounds) and earning a spot on U20 Team USA when it travels to Warsaw, Poland in August for the world championships.
