Tigers working to contend for MSL-Buckeye crown

Circleville Tigers Boys Golf

Coach: Luke McConnell

2022 finish: Fourth in Mid-State League Buckeye Division, District Qualifier

Key returnees: Senior Michael Fernandez, junior Reid Seimetz, sophomore Liam McConnell, junior Andrew Siembida, sophomore Ashton Groff, junior Carson Vangundy.

Key newcomers: Senior Slater Search, junior Jude Blair, junior Mason Everts, sophomore Caleb Hall, freshman Tyler Purdin, freshman Brady Reuter

Season outlook: Circleville has qualified for the district tournament in each of the last four years, but coach Luke McConnell believes the time has come for the Tigers to take the next step.

“We want to contend for the league championship this season.  The MSL is a very competitive league this season with everybody returning some quality players,” McConnell observed. “I really like our mix of veterans and new guys.  The upperclassmen have a lot of experience and understand what it takes and what we expect.  They do a great job of bringing the younger ones along to help them compete.

“The guys have worked really hard this year to achieve our goals for the season.  We have qualified for the district tournament the last 4 years and haven’t been able to make it to the state tournament.  Our mental preparation is the area that we are constantly working to improve to help us take that next step.”
