Braves take title at West Jefferson

WEST JEFFERSON — Logan Elm wrapped up 2023 by winning the two-day, 20-team West Jefferson Invitatonal.

The Braves posted a team score of 192.5 while Westerville Central was second at 183.5 and Grove City was third at 142.5. Amanda-Clearcreek placed 12th with 89.5 points. 

Logan Elm had three wrestlers win their weight class and two others take second. 

Ayden Hudson won the title at 106 pounds, Dawsen Hudson won at 113 pounds and Gavin Hoover won at 126 pounds.

Blaine Holzschuh was second at 120 pounds for LE and Hunter Schoenborn was second at 150.

Leading the Aces were Bodie Martin who took the title at 150 pounds and Peyton Beavers who won at 157.

The Braves will be hosting their annual invitational this Saturday with a field that includes Amanda-Clearcreek.

Vikings compete at Brecksville

BRECKSVILLE — Teays Valley competed at the Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament this past weekend placing 38th of the 44 teams. 

The Vikings took six wrestlers to the event with five scoring — Carson Hix (113 pounds), Josh Zimmer (120), Aiden Kennedy (157), Ethan Schwalbauch (190) and Tristian Graham (285).

Massillon Perry won the event with 235.5 points and Dublin Coffman was second with 207 points. 

The Vikings are back in action Saturday at Central Crossing.
