Circleville opened the Southeast District tournament in a big way as the Tigers took out Alexander 75-35 and Briley Cramer became the top boys’ scorer in the history of Circleville basketball.
Cramer helped the Tigers to a fast start with 12 points in the first quarter as CHS opened with a 22-8 lead.
After only adding three to his total in the second, Cramer came back in the third with 11.
The senior put in 11 more in the fourth to reach 1,266 points for his career — one more than 1997 graduate Aaron Kanitz.
“It was another special moment for Briley,” Circleville coach Cody Carpenter said. “Briley has worked really hard to get to where he is. These things don’t happen by accident.
“I’m very proud of him, and very proud of this team.”
Cramer was 16-21 from the field and hit four of six free throws for 37 points Saturday. He pulled down six rebounds as well.
Cramer wasn’t the only one scoring for the Tigers Saturday as fellow seniors Preston Hulse (three steals, three assists) and Slater Search (eight rebounds) each put in 10 in their last game on their home court.
Mason Morris hit six three-pointers to lead Alexander (1-22) with 18 points.
The Tigers (11-11) advance to play at New Lexington (18-4) Tuesday night and still have a regular season game with Bloom-Carroll to be rescheduled.
