Thursday roundup – Viking SB goes big in first league game at AC

SB — Teays Valley 23, Amanda-Clearcreek 0 (5 innings)

AMANDA — Teays Valley opened league play with a convincing 23-0 win at Amanda-Clearcreek Thursday afternoon. 

The Vikings collected 19 hits Thursday, all but two singles.

TV put seven across in the second and four in the fourth. 

Up 13-0, a two-out AC error in the fifth opened the door for the Vikings and they used the extra life to add 10 unearned runs to their total.

Alyvia Lawrentz was on the mound for TV and shutout the Aces on two hits with four walks and she struck out eight. 

The Aces (1-2) host Westfall for a double header Saturday while the Vikings are at Liberty Union Friday.

SB — Circleville 9, Westfall 1

WILLIAMSPORT — A six-run fourth inning was just what Circleville needed to break open a close game at Westfall on the way to a 9-1 win Thursday.

Circleville had six hits in the decisive fourth inning led by a two-run double from Kaylee West to grab a 6-1 lead. 

The Tiger used a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch and an error to add three more runs in the seventh. 

Gabby McConnell went the distance for the Tigers allowing one unearned run on five hits while walking two and striking out 11. 

Adrina Hicks took the loss for the Mustangs as she gave up six earned runs in four innings of work on six hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Delana Landefeld pitched three innings in relief allowing three earned runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Circleville (1-1) has a trip to Liberty Union on the schedule for Monday while Westfall (0-2) is set to play two at Amanda-Clearcreek Saturday. 

SB – Logan Elm 6, Jackson 2

CIRCLEVILLE —  A three-run third and three-run fifth gave Logan Elm a 6-2 win over visiting Jackson Thursday. 

Sadie Binkley, Tia Fowler and Peyton Richendollar each collected a pair of hits for the unbeaten Braves with Fowler driving in a pair of runs as well. 

Binkley went the distance on the mound as she allowed two earned runs on seven hits with two walks while striking out 10. 

The Braves host Fairfield Union Monday. 

BB — Amanda-Clearcreek 17, Worthington Christian 7 (6 innings)

WORTHINGTON — Amanda-Clearcreek had a big sixth inning to grab a 17-7 road win against Worthington Christian. 

Tied up at 7-7, the Aces did a little bit of everything in the sixth. AC had four hits, reached on two walks, two hit batters, two errors, two fielder’s choice plays and even had a batter reach base after a dropped third strike as they put 10 runs across in the inning to blow the game open. 

Nick Holland went 3-4 at the plate and went the first four innings on the mound. Brody Elder got the win as he went the last two in relief. He yielded no hits and no runs while walking one and striking out two. 

Peyton Beavers and Bodie Martin each had three RBI for the Aces.

The Aces (1-2) host Athens Saturday. 

BB — Westfall 9, McClain 2

WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall picked up a 9-2 win over visiting McClain Thursday. 

Westfall loaded the bases in the second with Trent Gardner singling in a pair of runs. A sac fly from Connor Green made it 3-1 Westfall and Cade Hall followed that up with a single to right for a 4-1 advantage. 

Westfall added a run in the fifth and then put four more across in the bottom of the sixth to wrap it up. 

Noah Stonerock got the win on the mound pitching 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeout and three walks. Gardner finished up the night. He pitched an inning and a third, allowing a run and striking out two. 

The Mustangs (1-1) have Fairfield Union on the schedule for Friday,
