BB — Teays Valley 12, Dublin Jerome 8
DUBLIN — Despite a fast start, Teays Valley needed a big sixth inning to net a 12-8 win at Dublin Jerome Friday.
Tied up 5-5 entering the fifth inning, Landon Vandegrift drew a one-out walk and scored on a double from Brody Weiler. Jonathon Watkins reached on an error and Weiler was able to score, putting TV up 7-5.
A walk to Nico Trapasso and Westin Woodrum getting hit by a pitch loaded the bases.
A pop fly brought about the second out of the inning with no runners advancing, but then Trevor Hamilton drew a walk to force in a run. Jeremiah Fabbro followed with a two-run single to right.
Peyton McElfresh singled to left field to score another run but Fabbro was thrown out trying to score as well to end the inning with TV up 11-5.
The Vikings added one more in the seventh when, with the bases loaded from a single and two walks, Jacob Stir was hit by a pitch to force in a run.
Jayden Morrison started for the Vikings and pitched three innings. Gavin Gilpen got the win in relief as he went four innings allowing three runs on five hits and striking out three.
The Vikings (2-1) host Dublin Coffman at noon Saturday.
BB — Westfall 7, Fairfield Union 6
WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall improved to 2-1 Friday with a 7-6 win over Fairfield Union.
A four-run fourth inning was just what the Mustangs needed to get the win.
Cory Green drew a walk to start the inning and Bryce Wickline followed with a single. Cade Hall followed with a smack to the second baseman which allowed Green to score, Wickline to advance and Hall to reach base safely.
Trent Walters hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Wickline. After walks to Brenden Tuttle and Michael Harwood, and a strikeout, Noah Stonerock walked to force in Tuttle and put Westfall up 7-4.
The Falcons made a late push in the seventh pulling to within a run with one out. But Wickline threw out a runner trying to steal third and then a fly out to shortstop ended the game.
Green pitched the first five innings to get the win as he allowed four runs on four hits with five walks and struck out four.
The Mustangs head to Adena Monday.
