Saturday diamond roundup

BB — Washington 2, Circleville 0

CHILLICOTHE — A couple of RBI singles in the third inning was all that Washington Court House needed to grab a 2-0 victory Saturday against Circleville.

The Tigers were limited to four hits in the contest.

Trent Smith started for the Tigers and went five innings. He allowed the two runs on five hits and struck out three. Kaiden Bigley pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out one.

Circleville returns to league play at Liberty Union Monday afternoon.

BB — Dublin Coffman 2, Teays Valley 1

ASHVILLE — Teays Valley was limited to five singles in falling 2-1 to Dublin Coffman Saturday.

The Vikings’ run came in the third when Westin Woodrum led off with a single to center and Brady Farmer then walked.

After a sacrifice bunt from Chase Liddell advanced the runners, Trevor Hamilton grounded into a fielder’s choice that allowed Woodrum to score.

Tanner Kelley took the loss as he went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with four walks and he struck out one.

Tyler Matthews pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief allowing two runs on two hits with a walk. Luke Reese finished the game. He struck out one in an inning and a third.

The Vikings are at Amanda-Clearcreek Monday.

SB — Teays Valley 13, West Jefferson 3

GROVE CITY — Teays Valley got out in front and never let West Jefferson get back in the game as the Vikings notched a 13-3 win in six innings at Grove City.

TV did most of its damage in the third and the sixth innings as the Vikings scored five runs in each of the innings.

TV’s big blow was a grand slam in the third from the bat of Aimee Deweese.

Isabel Sayre went the distance on the mound allowing the three runs on five hits, walking none and striking out one.

Teays Valley was trailing 2-1 to Lebanon Saturday at Grove City when the game was suspended in the fourth inning.

The Vikings hit the board first with back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the second. The second one was misplayed by the left fielder allowing the runners to advance and Aimee Deweese to score.

Lebanon responded in the top of the third with two outs.

Jane Leuzinger singled and Juliana Gonzalez followed with a triple to right field to score Leuzinger. Ella Teubner followed with a line drive to left to score Gonzalez.

The Vikings are headed to Florida for spring break week with a handful of games on the schedule.
