BB — Logan Elm 13, Circleville 2
CIRCLEVILLE — Strong pitching led Logan Elm to a 13-2 win at Circleville Saturday afternoon.
Grant Cline pitched 4.2 innings of hitless baseball for the Braves. He struck out 11 while allowing only one unearned run on seven walks and a pair of hit batters.
With Logan Elm leading 8-0, Circleville put together a threat in the bottom of the fifth.
A pair of errors gave the Tigers a couple of baserunners. Cline was able to get a strikeout and then a fly ball to right for the second out. But back-to-back walks pushed in Circleville’s first run and led to a pitching change. Zane Seimer came in and got a fly ball to left to end Circleville’s threat.
Seimer finished out the game for the Braves. He allowed one earned run on a hit with three walks while striking out four.
After a scoreless pair of innings to open the game, Logan Elm used a combination to two singles, a double, a walk, a sacrifice fly and two CHS errors to put four runs across in the third.
The Braves scored two more runs in fourth, fifth and sixth innings and closed out the game with three in the seventh.
Kelton Bennington went 3-4 for the Braves with two runs scored and an RBI. Keegan Diehl had a pair of hits with three runs scored and three RBI. Carson Summers also had a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in one run.
Trent Smith started for Circleville and took the loss as he went 4.2 innings allowing eight runs (two earned) on nine hits with two walks and striking out four. Zach Bell pitched an inning and a third allowing three runs, walking four and striking out two, and Glavine Bigam pitched an inning allowing two runs with two strikeouts.
A sixth-inning single from Austin Gray was the only hit for the Tigers.
BB — Liberty Union 8, Amanda-Clearcreek 3
AMANDA — Liberty Union survived four errors to beat Amanda-Clearcreek 8-3 Saturday.
Brody Elder had two of the Aces’ five hits Saturday and drove in two runs on a fourth-inning single. He scored the first run of the game in the first inning, as well.

Leland Riley started for the Aces and gave up three earned runs in 2.1 innings of work. He gave up two hits, walked four and struck out one.
Gary Kemmerling pitched in inning in relief, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk and he struck out two. Elder pitched 3.2 innings in relief. He gave up three earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four.
SB — Liberty Union 18, Amanda-Clearcreek 1
AMANDA — Liberty Union scored in each inning – including an eight-run third – to grab an 18-1 league win at Amanda-Clearcreek Saturday.
The Lions pounded out 14 hits, with four doubles, in the five-inning game.
Casadee Steinmetz started and went eight batters into the third. She allowed 12 runs (seven earned) on eight hits with five walks.
Makenna Singleton came on in relief and finished the game. She allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

• Circleville High School hosted a number of softball teams on Saturday and the day’s results saw Logan Elm win two games, Westfall split a pair and Circleville fall in its two contests.
SB — Logan Elm 16, Westfall 9
Despite some first-innings struggles, Logan Elm defeated Westfall 16-9 Saturday.
Both teams collected 13 hits in the contest, but six Westfall errors helped the Braves score nine unearned runs.
Westfall opened with three runs in the top of the first, but Logan Elm came back with four in the bottom of the inning – three coming with two outs.
Both teams added two runs in the second and Westfall added two in the top of the third.
Logan Elm had a decisive bottom half of the third as the Braves sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs with two outs to take a 13-7 lead.
Ryleigh Wolfe had three hits for the Braves while Payton Richendollar, Sadie Binkley and Taylor Fowler each had two hits. Lucy Caplinger had only a double for the Braves but drive in four runs. Fowler drove in three.
Richendollar started for the Braves in the circle but, after facing seven batters and recording only one out, was relieved by Wolfe who went the rest of the way.
Richendollar allowed three earned runs on three hits and three walks. Wolfe gave up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts.
Jill Butcher led Westfall with three hits and two RBI.
Gabby Henry, Sydney Fuller and Ellie Heath each had a pair of hits for the Mustangs.
Adrina Hicks started for Westfall and went 4.1 innings. She gave up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Delana Landefeld took the loss in relief as she allowed nine runs (two earned) on four hits with two walks and a strikeout.
SB — Logan Elm 6, John Glenn 5
Logan Elm scored twice in the top of the sixth to edge John Glenn 6-5 Saturday.
Sadie Binkley went the distance for LE giving up five runs (four earned) on nine hits with two walks and striking out six. She also went 3-4 at the plate and drove in four runs.
Lucy Caplinger had two hits for LE and Peyton Richendollar tripled and drew three walks.
Jaycie Clifton went hitless for LE, but her groundout in the sixth drove in the winning run for the Braves.
SB — Sheridan 7, Westfall 4
A five-run sixth inning was just what Sheridan needed to beat Westfall 7-4 Saturday.
Westfall had a 4-2 lead, but the Generals had their first five batters reach base to go up 5-4 and then a sacrifice bunt and another hit drove in two more runs.
Three Westfall errors led to five unearned runs for Sheridan.
Adrina Hicks pitched for Westfall. She gave up 10 hits, walked two and struck out three.
Jill Butcher, Gabby Henry and Logan McNeal each had three hits for the Mustangs.
SB — Sheridan 10, Circleville 2
Sheridan got out to a 5-0 lead and went on to defeat host Circleville 10-2.
A pair of second-inning errors helped Sheridan put four runs across in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The Generals added a run in the fourth and Payton Powell had a two-run homer as part of a three-run fifth.
Circleville puts runs across on an RBI single from Gabby McConnell in the third and an RBI double from Ella Michael in the fifth.
Audrey Cowdery pitched the first four innings for the Tigers. She gave up nine runs (five earned) on eight hits. Kayla Fleck pitched three innings. She allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out two.
SB — Unioto 10, Circleville 8
Unioto scored five times in the top of the seventh and then closed out host Circleville 1-2-3 for a 10-8 win Saturday.
The Shermans were down 8-5 to the Tigers when they opened the seventh with a single and a two-run home run from Alexis Book. Three more singles had the game tied before the first out was recorded. A two-out double drove in two more runs to give Unioto the edge it needed.
After Unioto scored four in the first, Circleville came back with five in the second.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Audrey Cowdery hit one to left field and an error resulted in three runs scoring.
After a hit batter, Gabby McConnell singled to center and drove in two runs for a 5-4 CHS lead.
Unioto tied the game in the third and Circleville got the lead back off a two-run triple by Makaylee Holbrook in the bottom of the inning.
The Tigers added their final run on an RBI double from McConnell in the sixth.
McConnell went the distance for Circleville. She gave up 10 earned runs on 12 hits with two walks and she struck out five.
