Braves’ softball plays long ball in win while other Wednesday games delayed by weather

Logan Elm and Fairfield Union made it through five innings before inclement weather shut down their softball game. The Braves were the only area team to get a regulation game in Wednesday as the others had the afternoon storms shut down their progress at various points to be resumed at a later time. 

The following list shows where the games stood when weather interrupted:
BB — Circleville 5, Liberty Union 0 (bottom of 4th)
BB — Logan Elm 9, Fairfield Union 2 (end of 4th)
BB — Adena 4, Westfall 0 (end of 1st)
SB — Circleville 1, Liberty Union 0 (middle of 4th)
SB — Westfall 5, Adena 0 (middle of 3rd)

SB — Logan Elm 7, Fairfield Union 0

CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm played long ball in beating Fairfield Union 7-0 Wednesday. 

Sadie Binkley, Taylor Fowler, Jacie Clifton and Ryleigh Wolfe each hit solo shots in consecutive at-bats in the bottom of the first to get Logan Elm out to a 4-0 lead.

Wolfe drove in another run in the third on a ground out. 

The Braves added two more in the fifth. The first was on an RBI single by Clifton and the other on an RBI single from Lucy Caplinger.

Binkley pitched five innings of scoreless ball. She gave up two hits and struck out nine. 

The Braves had 11 hits Wednesday and played error-free defense.
