Tuesday diamond report: Viking SB on top of Braves; CHS holds off LU in dramatic style; WF Sb falls to Unioto; Braves BB beats FU; Tigers fall to Gahanna

SB — Teays Valley 5, Logan Elm 1

ASHVILLE — Five days off a 7-1 loss, Teays Valley flipped the script on Logan Elm to grab a 5-1 win Tuesday afternoon. 

The Vikings used a combination of small ball and timely hitting this time around to get on top.

Aimee DeWeese opened TV’s half of the second with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. A groundout moved her to third. After Michelle Brumfield was hit by a pitch, Avery Mann doubled to center to brig both of them in. 

Logan Elm’s Sadie Binkley fields a bunt and looks to first for an out Tuesday afternoon.

In the fourth, Isabel Sayre opened with a single and moved over on a sacrifice bunt. A single from Mann put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Sayre to score and Micah Mann (running for Avery Mann) to move up. A single from Alyvia Lawrentz brought in Mann for a 4-1 lead. 

TV ( 10-3, 6-2)scored its final run in the fifth. DeWeese reach on an error, stole second and scored on a single from Sayre. 

The Braves scoed their one run in the first. Lynsay Vanhoose led the game off reaching on an error and taking second. She scored moments later when Sadie Binkley singled. 

Lawrentz started for the Vikings and went five innings. She allowed the one unearned run on two hits and struck out eight. 

Sayre pitched the final two innings walking one and striking out one.

Binkley went the distance for the Braves (13-3, 6-3). She gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits with two walks and she struck out two.

SB — Circleville 2, Liberty Union 1

CIRCLEVILLE — Circleville had a big play at the plate to wrap up a 2-1 win over Liberty Union. 

Coming back to the diamond after the game was suspended in the middle of the fourth inning last Wednesday by weather, both teams had scored a run Tuesday and Circleville (9-5, 7-2) was up 2-1 heading to the seventh. 

Brooklyn Brockman reach on an error to start the seventh for LU (11-6, 6-4) and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a second out was recorded, an intentional walk was issued to Payton Hochradel.

Haeden Brunty then hit a line drive to right field. Audrey Crowdery fielded the ball and threw home to catcher Kaylee West who put a tag on a sliding Brockman for the third out to end the game. 

The Tigers scored a run in the first and another in the sixth – both on RBI singles from Gabby McConnell.

McConnell pitched all seven innings for the Tigers. She allowed the one run on seven hits with a walk and she struck out three. 

SB — Unioto 3, Westfall 1

CHILLICOTHE — Westfall had more hits, but Unioto turned theirs into more runs as the Shermans picked up a 3-1 win Tuesday. 

The Mustangs ( 5-8, 5-4) had seven hits in the game to Unioto’s four and one of those seven was an RBI double from Ava Heath in the third to give Westfall a 1-0 lead. 

The Shermans (14-4, 9-0) started the bottom of the inning with a walk and then, with one out, Abbie Marshall hit a ball over the fence in center to give her team a 2-1 lead. 

Marshall extended the Unioto lead with an RBI double in the fifth. 

Adrina Hicks pitched for the Mustangs. She allowed three earned runs on four hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. 

BB — Logan Elm 10, Fairfield Union 5

CIRCLEVILLE — Resuming a suspended game in the fifth inning, Logan Elm held on to last week’s lead to beat Fairfield Union 10-5. 

LE (7-7, 5-4) had a 9-2 lead when storms rolled in last Wednesday and suspended the game after four innings. 

A seven-run second inning had staked the Braves to the big lead. 

Five of the first six LE batters had hits to bring in the first four runs. Two more hits and a bases-loaded walk with two outs added three to the score. 

A two-run double from Brady Neff in the fourth had LE up 9-2 when the storm halted play. 

Coming back Tuesday, LE added a run when Josh Hunter was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the fifth and scored when Kyle Rine singled and there was an error on the left fielder. 

The Falcons (6-8, 5-3) scored a single run in the first, second and fifth innings and got two across on an RBI triple from Garrett Dilcher where Dilcher also scored on a throwing error. 

Colton Eplin pitched four innings in the original matchup to get the win. He gave up two runs on one hit with four walks and struck out three.

Zane Seimer pitched three innings allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. 

BB — Gahanna-Lincoln 5, Circleville 2

CIRCLEVILLE — Circleville was held to two hits in a 5-2 loss to visiting Gahanna-Lincoln Tuesday. 

The first hit was an RBI double from Austin Gray that gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. 

The Lions had an RBI triple in the fourth to tie the game and uses a passed ball and bases-loaded walk to add runs in the fifth inning.

A single, a sacrifice bunt and a double setup a two-run single for the Lions in the sixth to go up 5-1.

A couple of walks and a hit batter loaded the bases for the Tigers (6-8) in the sixth and a Hudson Phalin groundout scored Brody Brisker from third to close out the game’s scoring. 

Brisker had the Tigers’ other hit in the seventh. 

Zach Bell started and went 4.1 innings for the Tigers. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with four walks, and he struck out three. 

Glavine Bigam pitched 2.2 innings in relief. He allowed two earned runs on three hits with a walk.
