Lady Vikings hold lead after first day of MSL track championships; Lions tops on boys’ side

LANCASTER — The first night of the Mid-State League Buckeye Division Track and Field championships has the Teays Valley girls holding a seven-point lead over Circleville and Fairfield Union while Liberty Union’s boys have a six-point edge over host Fairfield Union.

The Lady Vikings have a team score of 42 points to Circleville’s and Fairfield Union’s 35, with Logan Elm fourth with 29. Amanda-Clearcreek is in sixth with 14.

On the boys’ side, Liberty Union has 57 points and Fairfield Union has 51. Teays Valley is in third with 26 and Circleville is fourth with 21 while Amanda-Clearcreek and Logan Elm are tied for seventh with 18 each.

While Teays Valley’s girls didn’t claim an event title Tuesday, they were second in three and third in two others.

Logan Elm’s Maggie Wilson repeated as league champ in the discus with Teays Valley’s Madison Burris and Sophia Seymour placing second and third.

Circleville’s Sydney Lattimer won the long jump with TV’s Kate Ridley taking second.

Fairfield Union’s Christian Thompson won the high jump with TV’s Brooklyn Herbert second.

Circleville’s Taegan Retherford won the shot put.

In the only running event held as a final, Fairfield Union was 20 seconds faster than second-place Circleville and Teays Valley was in third, 23 seconds behind the Tigers.
