Lady Aces win Peloquin Invitational – Braves second on both sides

Amanda-Clearcreek took the top spot on the girls’ side of Logan Elm’s Phil Peloquin Invitational Friday. The host Braves were second for the girls and the boys in the seven-team competition. 

The Lady Aces won seven events to post 178.5 points while LE’s girls had 138.5 points. Westfall was sixth with 49.5.

Liberty Union won the boys’ side of the invitational with 159 points while Logan Elm was eight points behind with 151. Amanda-Clearcreek was third with 113 and Westfall was fifth with 58.

Emma Strickler had a big night for the Aces as she was eight inches better than the competition in the long jump, won the 200 meters and was second in the 100 meters.

AC’s Gavin Sowers was a tenth of a second faster than Strickler in winning the 100 meters. Sowers also won the 1,600 meters and joined with Strickler, Emma Kern and Lola Pisanek to win the 1,600-meter relay.

Kern, Pisanek, Avery McKeska and Rachel Weaver teamed up to win the 800-meter relay for the Aces. 

AC’s Kinsley Berger won the 100-meter hurdles and took second in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Topping the results for Logan Elm’s girls were Claire King in the pole vault, Maggie Wilson in the discus, Marlo Smith in the shot put and two relay teams. 

Rylie Martin, Jaryn Fox, Clara Wilson and Chloe Anderson won the 3,200-meter relay and Sophie Ash, Emma Tilley, Kailen King and Claire King won the 400-meter relay. 

Caitlyn Shipley led the Mustangs with a win in the 800 meters. 

Logan Elm had six event titles in taking second in the boys’ meet. 

Dane Liggins won the 200 meters for the Braves while Keegan Kidd won the 800 meters, Owen Russell won the 3,200 meters and Lane Renier won the discus. 

Blake Kanniard, Owen Russell, Parker Disbennett and Kidd won the 3,200-meter relay and Kanniard, Kidd, Owen Groff and Dane Liggins won the 1,600-meter relay. 

For the Aces, Tommy Stai won the 100 meters, Colton Westhoven won the high jump and the team of Stai, Travis Spence, Mason Jones and Taylon Conrad won the 400-meter relay. 

Josh Trapp led the Mustangs with a win in the 400 meters.
