Weiss medalist as Mustangs take top spot in SVC

WILLIAMSPORT — The Scioto Valley Conference girls came to Crown Hill Wednesday with plans to get two events in, but the heat cut that in half. Westfall was able to battle through for a 23-shot win over Zane Trace on the first nine with Piketon and Unioto a shot behind ZT.

Westfall now has a one-point lead over Zane Trace in the SVC standings as the Mustangs have 22 wins, ZT has 21 and Piketon has 20.

Paige Weiss was medalist as the senior Mustang shot a 38 on the front nine in leading her team to a 178.

Freshman Rosella Lattavo shot a 39 in leading Zane Trace to second with a team 201. 

Michele Pickett had a 45 for the Mustangs, Caroline Sever shot 47 and Mariana Packer had a round of 48 to complete scoring. Kathryn Lockhart shot 51 and Lillian Cooper had a 69. 

The SVC will return to Crown Hill next Wednesday to play the back nine. 

Team scores: Westfall 178, Zane Trace 201, Piketon 202, Unioto 202, Adena 212, Southeastern 226. 

Mustangs stay unbeaten in SVC play

CHILLICOTHE — Westfall came out on top of the third SVC matchup Wednesday at the Chillicothe VA golf course. 

The Mustangs had a score of 159 with Piketon second at 163 and Zane Trace third at 164. 

Huntington’s Tucker Taylor was match medalist with a 34 and Westfall’s Brendan Biegler took second at 36. 

Jacob Hicks posted a 39 for Westfall, Colton Brungarth had a 41, Dalton Bush and Ian Camden each had a 43 and David Dick shot a 49. 

With three wins in three SVC events, the Mustangs have 24 points with Piketon second at 21.  

Team scores: Westfall 159, Piketon 163, Zane Trace 164, Unioto 171, Huntington 172, Paint Valley 196, Southeastern 205. 

TV takes third at OCC event

MARYSVILLE — Teays Valley wound up in third at third OCC Buckeye golf event played at Darby Creek Golf Course. 

Reynoldsburg took the win with a 157, while Lancaster had a 169 and the Vikings posted a 173. 

Tanner Wood, from Reynoldsburg, claimed medalist with a 34. 

Noah Hilgenberg led TV with a 37, Vance Hanger had a 41, Carter Hutchison had a 47 and Caden Sherman and Will Griffith each had a 48. 

Team scores: Reynoldsburg 157, Lancaster 169, Teays Valley 173, Pickerington Central 176, Newark 178, Logan 186, Canal Winchester 187, Groveport-Madison 216.
