Westfall wins sectional title; CHS, LE girls advance to districts; AC’s Riddle advances

Girls Division II Southeast District

GREENFIELD — Westfall won the Division II Southeast District West sectional at Buckeye Hills Golf Course Monday. 

The Mustangs had a 336 to outpace the competition. West Union was second with a 364, Zane Trace had a 379 and Logan Elm took fourth with a 414. 

Westfall’s Paige Weiss was the match medalist with a round of 70. 

ZT’a Rosella Lattavo was second with a 72, New Lexington’s Peyton Everett was third with a 78 and Westfall’s Caroline Sever was fourth with an 82.

Marianna Packer had a 90 for the Mustangs and Michelle Pickett rounded out the scoring with a 94. Kathryn Lockhart had a 106.

Mallory Stevens led Logan Elm with a 94, Addison Lester shot a 99, Lily Slusher a 100 and Jessica Fike finished the scoring with a 121. Anna Fike had a 122 for the Braves. 

The Mustangs and Braves will join the other qualifiers at the district tournament October 1 at Crown Hill Golf Course trying to earn a spot at the state championships. 

Team scores (top four teams advance to district tournament): Westfall 336, West Union 364, Zane Trace 379, Logan Elm 414, North Adams 421, Adena 424, Peebels 434, Fairfield 455, Lynchburg-Clay 484, Eastern 585.

Girls Division I Southeast District

CHILLICOTHE — Unioto laid claim to the sectional golf title at the Jaycees Golf Course Monday.

The Shermans posted a team 380. Marietta was second with a 393, Jackson had a 405, Circleville claimed fourth with a 406 and Logan earned the final qualifying spot for the district tournament by placing fifth with a score of 426. 

Jackson’s Aubrey Arnold was the medalist with a 77. Athens’ Ellie Beck-Aden and Washington CH’s Faith Wynne tied for second with rounds of 79 and Circleville’s Isabelle Perini was fourth with an 82. 

Alyssa Sharp shot a 105 for the Tigers, Ava Justice shot a 109 and Allie Mullins rounded out the scoring with a 110. Aleigh Michael shot a round of 114.  

The Tigers will join the other four teams from their sectional along with qualifiers from the East District October 9 at Eaglesticks Golf Club in Zanesville looking for a spot in the state tournament. 

Team scores (top five teams advance to district tournament): Unioto 380, Marietta 393, Jackson 405, Circleville 406, Logan 426, Miami Trace 438, Fairfield Union 439, Washington CH 445, Sheridan 446, Warren 457, Hillsboro 460, McClain 460, Chillicothe 461. 

Boys Division II Central District Sectional

GRANVILLE — Amanda-Clearcreek placed third at the Division II sectional at Denison Monday.

Columbus Academy won the event with a 320 and Jonathan Alder was second with a 321. 

The Aces had a team score of 369 to take third. (The top two teams advance to the district tournament.)

Jonathan Alder’s Sam Cramer was medalist with a 74. 

AC’s Caiden Riddle tied for 11th with an 87 to grab a spot as an individual in the district event. 

Breece Stone shot a 91 for the Aces, Ashden Vanscoy had a 93 and AJ Moyer rounded out the scoring with a 98. Lucas Foster shot a 114. 

Team scores (top two teams advance to district tournament): Columbus Academy 320, Jonathan Alder 321, Amanda-Clearcreek 369, Utica 380, Heath 385, Lakewood 388.

Girls Division II Central District Sectional Tournament

REYNOLDSBURG — Amanda-Clearcreek’s girls wrapped up their golf season at the Central District sectional at Blacklick Woods Golf Course. 

Columbus Academy won the sectional with a 309, Columbus School for Girls shot 324 for second.

Briana Stanley led the Aces with a 105, Rylyn Foster had a 110 and Alana Benjamin shot 150. 

Amanda-Clearcreek did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Team scores (top three advance to district tournament): Columbus Academy 308, Columbus School for Girls 324, Newark Catholic 362, Northmor 390, Utica 420, Bishop Ready 448, Mechanicsburg 514, Liberty Union 515, Madison-Plains 534, Tree of Life 549.
