Lady Tiger down Aces; Lady Vikes win first OCC game; TV and Westfall drop tight games; LE falls to HT; Aces lose on the road

Circleville 48, Amanda-Clearcreek 35

AMANDA — Circleville came out on top of a key early season league matchup at Amanda-Clearcreek 48-35 Tuesday. 

The Tigers were able to build a 25-15 halftime lead and Addison Edgington had eight of her game-high 20 points in the third quarter as the Tigers took the lead to 37-24.

Brooklyn Cramer added 10 for Circleville and Maddie Blakeman had nine. 

Taylor Evans led the Aces with 10 points.

Teays Valley 48, Logan 39

LOGAN — Playing its first league game as a member of the Ohio Capital Conference’s Buckeye Division, Teays Valley came out on top 48-39 over host Logan. 

Cami Robbins led the Vikings (1-1, 1-0) with 15 points Tuesday.

Tessa Horsley was a point shy of a double double as she had 11 rebounds to go with her nine points. Horsley also led the team with four assists. 

Addi Helwagen and Areyana Karshner each scored six points for TV. Karshner pulled down five rebounds and had three steals. 

Makenzie Daubenmire led Logan (1-1, 0-1) with 13 points. 

The Vikings (1-1, 1-0) are at Lancaster Friday.

Zane Trace 47, Westfall 44

WILLIAMSPORT — Zane Trace edged out host Westfall 47-44 Tuesday in a game that came down to the final seconds. 

Westfall’s Joe Wray hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds left to pull the Mustangs to within a point at 45-44.

ZT’s Landon Robinson was fouled on the inbounds play after the shot and made both free throws with 8.7 seconds on the clock. 

Coming out of a timeout, the Mustangs had a shot at tying the game, but tight defense from the Pioneers led to the shot being off the mark.

Bryan Craig led the Mustangs with 15 points and Wray had 14, while Haden Rigsby added eight. 

Ezra Rippeth had 12 for Zane Trace and Grady Stewart and Gunnar McCullough each had 11.

Hamilton Township 58, Logan Elm 37

CIRCLEVILLE — Hamilton Township had a strong start to Tuesday night’s game at Logan Elm on the way to a 58-37 league win. 

The Rangers never trailed in the game as they went up 20-10 after the first quarter and 32-15 at the half.

Kiki Ingram led the Braves with a game-high 20 points and Kimmy Petty added eight, Maggie Wilson four, Maddie Adkins three and Emma Largent two. 

The Braves struggled from the field, hitting only 25 percent of their shots. 

Jersey Baker led the Rangers with 16 points, Alexis Wooten had 13 and Jael Haynes-Lee had 12.

Olentangy 61, Teays Valley 60

LEWIS CENTER — Olentangy took the lead back from visiting Teays Valley in the final seconds to post a 61-60 win Tuesday.

The Vikings had trailed 32-22 at the half but fought their way back to make it a 48-44 deficit after three quarters. 

In the fourth they were able to hold the lead late and a pair of free throws from Brody Fields had the Vikings up 60-56 with 26 seconds left in the game 

A three-point play from Olentangy’s Ulysses Ponder made it a one-point game and the Braves were able to create a turnover on the inbound play. Quentin Page got control of the ball and tried to score but was fouled. With 14.3 seconds on the clock, he hit both free throws to put his team back up by one. 

The Vikings had a good look from the corner as time was expiring but the shot was off the mark.

Sheridan 59, Amanda-Clearcreek 31

THORNVILLE — Sheridan clamped down on defense to defeat the visiting Amanda-Clearcreek boys basketball team 59-31 Tuesday.
