Braves second at West Jeff, Aces place ninth
WEST JEFFERSON — Logan Elm had three champions as the Braves places second at the West Jefferson Invitational Friday and Saturday. Amanda-Clearcreek placed ninth in the 22-team tournament.
Gavin Hoover led the way for the Braves in winning the 132-pound weight class and was named the tournament’s top wrestler.
Dawsen Hudson took the title at 113 pounds and David Little was first at 138.
Blaine Holzschuh was second for LE at 126 pounds.
LE got third-place performances from Nehemiah Hess at 144 pounds and Hunter Schoenborn at 165.
Bodie Martin led the Aces as he won the title at 157 pounds.
Reese Marshall was third at 113 and Ben Mead was fourth at 150.
Westfall 34th at Medina
MEDINA — Westfall finished 34th in the 53-team Medina Invitational held Friday and Saturday.
Seven of the nine Mustangs wrestling won matches to help the team to 42.5 points.
Ashland won the tournament with 175.5 points and host Buckeye High School was second with 170.5.
Circleville 18th at Marion Harding
MARION — Circleville placed three wrestlers to finish in a tie for 18th at the 36-team Marion Harding Classic.
Jon Perez finished fourth for Circleville at 132 pounds and Caihden Morgan was fourth at 285.
Ayden Blue finished the weekend winning his fifth-place match at 215 pounds.
St. Edward won the team title with 212.5 points while Highland was second with 156 points.
Minford 69, New Hope 59
Jackson Shoemaker helped the Falcons get out to an early lead as he had 10 points in the first quarter as Minford took a 19-14 lead.
Bennett Kayser had a nine-point second quarter as Minford went in at the half with a 35-24 lead.
Hunter Cavanaugh led the Statesmen and all scorers with 25 points while Xander Rink had 18 for New Hope.
Myles Montgomery led Minford with 23 points, Kayser had 21 and Shoemaker had 20.

Aces split with Buckeye Valley
AMANDA — Amanda-Clearcreek had a full day of basketball with the boys and girls teams hosting Buckeye Valley.
The Lady Aces were able to post a 50-40 win.
The Aces fell behind 10-6 after the first quarter but turned things around in the second to lead 22-21 at the half and went up 39-31 heading into the final quarter.
Taylor Evans had 10 points in the first half enroute to 19 points. Kaylie Wilson added 12 for the Aces.
Things didn’t go as well for AC’s boys as they fell behind 25-13 after the first quarter and trailed 49-19 by halftime.
