WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall’s boys golf team is returning to the state championships after winning the Southeast District championship Wednesday,

The Mustangs posted a team score of 322 to top the field at Crown Hill with Lynchburg-Clay claiming second place – and a spot in the state tournament – with a score of 324.

Ironton was third with a score of 327 while Circleville took fourth with a score of 330.

Westfall and Clay will be competing at NCR Country Club’s South Course in Kettering Monday and Tuesday next week.

Ironton senior Carson Blankenship had the low round of the day with a round of 73 at Crown Hill while Circleville sophomore Jaxon Hughey tied for second.

Playing as the Tigers’ fifth man Wednesday, Hughey shot a 4-over par 76 to tie Lynchburg-Clay’s Nolan Wilkin.

Carson and Hughey will be advancing to the state tournament as individuals.

Brendan Biegler led Westfall with a round of 77 while Colton Kraft and Brody Biegler each shot 80, Dalton Bush shot 87 and Colton Brungarth 92.

The Mustangs finished 10th at last year’s state championship, which was held at Firestone Country Cub. Bush, Brendan Biegler and Brungarth were part of last year’s state tournament team while Brody Biegler and Kraft are freshmen.

Along with Hughey’s 76, the Tigers’ Brady Reuter had a round of 80, Liam McConnell 85, Caz Coyan 89 and Maxton McKeivier shot 91.
