AKRON — Teays Valley’s Deacon Kroeger wrapped up the golf season as one of the state’s top golfers.
The freshman finished the Division I state championships in a four-way tie for 16th place playing Sunday and Monday at Firestone Country Club’s North Course.
Kroeger shot a five-over 77 on Sunday. He started on the back nine with a 36 and finished on the front with a 41.
On Monday he shot a one-over round of 73. He had a 38 to start on the back nine and shot 35 on the front to finish the event.
Dublin Jerome claimed the state championship with a two-day score of 578. St Charles was second at 580.
Jerome’s Brady Banum was the individual winner going seven-under for the tournament with a two-day score of 137. Toku Fujiwara from Lakota West was second with a score of 140.
• Dublin Jerome also came out on top in the girls Division I tournament being played across the road at Firestone’s Fazio Course. Jerome had a two-day score of 624 with Magnificate second at 636.
Olentangy’s Meadow Tian was the individual champion going one-under with a two-day score of 139. Serena Wu of Solon was at even par for the two days with a score of 140.
