Rangers claim MSL title, Braves take third

OBETZ — Hamilton Township had four champions and placed 11 wrestlers to lay claim to the Mid-State League wrestling title Saturday afternoon. 

The Rangers piled up 182.5 points to outdistance Bloom-Carroll (148) and Logan Elm (140). 

Amanda-Clearcreek placed fourth with 86 points and Circleville was a sixth with 68.5.

Logan Elm had a pair of title winners and placed nine wrestlers overall.

Jackson Snyder and Nehemiah Hess each recorded pins in winning titles at 120 pounds and 144 pounds, respectively, for the Braves.  

Ayden Hudson (126), David Little (150), Myquan Waugh (157) and Bryson Parish (165) each placed second for the Braves and Jeffrey Thompson placed third at 215. 

Silas Hoffman (215) was the lone champion for AC as he recorded a third-round pin in the finals. 

Max Gaal (126), Jaston Spires (138), Max Miller (150) and Levi Foster (285) each won their consolation finals to take third for the Aces.

Circleville bookended the finals as Kevin Downing won the 106-pound title with a tech fall and Caihden Morgan had a first-round pin to win at heavyweight. 

Conner Brokaw (113) and Noah Northam each had pins to place third for the Tigers. 

The schools will begin their postseason with sectionals next weekend. Circleville and Logan Elm will be competing in the Southeast District Division II sectionals at Gallia Academy Saturday. 

Amanda-Clearcreek is in action at the Division III Central District at Ridgedale.
