Central District Division V Championship
No. 10 Amanda-Clearcreek 5, No. 2 Fredericktown 0
LANCASTER — Amanda-Clearcreek’s Andrew Miller and Gary Kemmerling combined on a two-hit shutout to give Amanda-Clearcreek a Division V district title in a 5-0 win over Fredericktown.
Miller started and went five innings where he gave up a hit to the first batter he went up against. He faced the minimum over the next three innings and walked two in the fifth but used a couple of strikeouts to get out of the inning.
Kemmerling gave up a double in the sixth and walked a batter in the seventh, but the Freddies couldn’t find a way to get back in the game.
Nick Holland led off the game with a triple for the Aces and scored when Breece Stone singled in the next at-bat.
A hit batter and a double from Noah Chambers set up the Aces in the second. Jack Thompson scored on a passed ball and Chambers advanced to third. Kemmerling hit a sac fly to right to make it a 3-0 AC lead.
The Aces added two more in the fifth when Miller connected on a two-out double. Cole Schiff singled to score Miller and then Collin Thomas doubled to score Schiff.
The Aces (13-11) advance to Wednesday’s regional semifinal in Elida against a to be determined opponent out of the Northwest District.
