After winning the first two sets of a non-league match on Monday, the Circleville volleyball team was unable to close the deal in a 26-24, 26-24, 11-25, 22-25 and 7-15 loss to visiting Alexander.
Both teams entered the match ranked in the state, with the Tigers holding down the seventh spot in Division II and the Spartans ranked 12th in Division III.
Circleville struggled at the net down the stretch, converting just six kills with five errors in the final set. The Tigers also had just three solo blocks defensively for the entire match.
Kenzie McConnell had 26 kills, two solo blocks and 27 digs; Morgan Blakeman contributed 20 kills and 22 digs; Jayla Parsons dished out 34 assists and chipped in 14 digs; Gabby McConnell distributed 14 assists to go with 19 digs; Cara Cooper scooped up 26 digs, and Chandler Hayes and Zoey Ferguson each added 11.
The Tigers (10-1) resume Mid-State League Buckeye Division play today when they host Amanda-Clearcreek.

Ethan Engen scored a hat trick on Monday to send New Hope to a 4-0 non-league win over visiting Amanda-Clearcreek.
Caleb Heidish had the other goal for the Statesmen, with Cameron Corey and Zach Siedle each assisting on a pair of goals.
JT Taylor had two saves in the clean sheet effort.

Four different Braves found the back of the net on Monday in a 5-0 non-league win over host Southeastern.
Cole Conaway scored a pair of goals and Landon Long chipped in a goal and assisted two others. Hassan Sharif and Clay Reed had the other two tallies for the Braves. Jude Braun and Owen Hartranft each added an assist.
Braden Sabine had three saves in a clean sheet that moved the Braves to 7-4 on the season.

Riley Schultz scored her second goal of a non-league match with just 30 seconds remaining to send Logan Elm to a 2-2 non-league tie against host Southeastern.
Sydney Spires had an assist and Liv Adams made three saves for the Braves, who move to 3-2-6.

Logan Elm opened the week on Monday with a 5-0 non-league win over visiting Logan.
The LE first doubles team of Brooke Anderson and Erin Gaskin defeated Addy Clement and Maisey Russell 6-3 and 6-1.
The LE second doubles tandem of Casie Gaskin and Jerica Platz turned in a 6-1 and 6-0 decision over Madachi Roberts and Lily Sauer.
Logan Elm’s Keller Clouse earned a 6-2 and 6-1 win at first singles against Rachel Vogt, LE teammate Ella Bennington pitched a 6-0 and 6-0 shutout at second singles over Selena Zheng and Hope Akers dispatched Logan’s Malory Abram 6-0 and 6-0 at third singles.
