Roundup: AC softball scores 15 against Tigers, Westfall baseball prevails in nine

SOFTBALL

Amanda-Clearcreek 15, Circleville 2

Circleville struck first but visiting Amanda-Clearcreek took the lead in the second inning on the way to a 15-2 win Monday.

Chandler Hayes had a leadoff triple for the Tigers and scored on a groundout to put CHS in the early lead.

Paige Alford opened the second with a leadoff walk for the Aces and Liberty Hopper followed with a single. Alford would eventually score on a groundout while Hopper crossed the plate after a bases-loaded walk to put AC on top to stay.

AC added six in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Alford got the win going four innings allowing two runs (one earned) three hits with a strikeout. Shyanne Miller went the last two innings giving up three hits and striking out three.

Logan Elm 7, Liberty Union 2

BALTIMORE — Cheyenne Arnold had five of Logan Elm’s 13 hits in a 7-2 win over host Liberty Union Monday afternoon.

Three of Arnold’s hits were doubles and she scored three times for the Braves. Lynsay VanHoose went 3-5 at the plate with a double and also scored three times.

Carly King got the win as she struck out 11 and walked two. She allowed four hits in the game.

Bloom-Carroll 12, Hamilton Towship 1

CARROLL — Bloom-Carroll put seven runs across in the fourth inning to seal the fate for visiting Hamilton Township as BC beat the Rangers 12-1 in five innings.

Westfall 9, Adena 5

BASEBALL

Amanda-Clearcreek 6, Circleville 3

Amanda-Clearcreek struck first and built up a 6-1 advantage in beating host Circleville 6-3.

Hits were hard to come by with each team collecting only five, but five Tiger errors helped the Aces score a pair of unearned runs in the contest.

Chambers got the win for the Aces going six and a third innings on the mound giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and he struck out eight.

Mikey Vandagriff took the loss for the Tigers despite striking out 13. He gave up four runs (two earned) on three hits over six innings.

Westfall 6, Adena 5

WILLIAMSPORT — Luke Blackburn got his only hit of the night when he singled on a 1-0 pitch in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the winning run for Westfall in a 6-5 win over Adena Monday.

Blackburn went the first six innings on the mound for Westfall. He gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and struck out 12.

Titan Williams pitched three hitless innings to get the win in relief. He struck out five.

Williams went 3-4 at the plate and scored three times. Trent Walters and Ashton Nunemaker each had a pair of hits for the Mustangs.

Liberty Union 5, Logan Elm 3

Liberty Union overcame six errors to defeat visiting Logan Elm 5-3 Monday.

David Evans led the Logan Elm at the plate going 3-4 with a double and he scored twice.

Garrett Summers took the loss for the Braves as he went the distance allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and he struck out seven.

Teays Valley 5, Fairfield Union 1

Teays Valley scored three with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to finish off visiting Fairfield Union Monday.

Peyton Weiler singled to drive in one and AJ Moniaci followed with a two-run single to give the Vikings a four-run cushion.

Sam Sethne got the win for TV as he went five-plus innings allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Adam McManes got the save as he pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Bloom-Carroll 13, Hamilton Township 0

CARROLL — Three Bloom-Carroll pitchers combined to shut out visiting Hamilton Township in a 13-0 five-inning win for the Bulldogs.
