Saturday’s roundup: A-C girls earn first win of season

A strong first half on Saturday sent Amanda-Clearcreek to a 44-34 Mid-State League Buckeye Division win over host Liberty Union.
The Aces grabbed an 11-3 lead after a period of play, holding the Lions to just 1 of 13 shooting from the field with the lone basket coming from Delaney Peck.
Rachel Weaver drained three of the five shots she took during the opening stanza to help power the Aces with six points.
Emily Buckley scored six of the Aces’ 12 points during the second stanza to send A-C into halftime with a 23-11 lead.
Buckley poured in a game-high 16 points, Weaver had 10 and Addy Pugh added eight for the Aces.
Peck paced the Lions with 10 points.
The Aces (1-2, 1-0) host Westfall on Tuesday for a non-league game.
Bloom-Carroll 59,
Circleville 22

Bloom-Carroll took a 16-3 lead following a period of play and didn’t look back on Saturday in a 59-22 MSL-Buckeye victory over host Circleville.
Emily Bratton poured in a game-high 19 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Logan Jones had eight points, and Faith Yancey and Jordan Rhymer added five apiece for the Tigers (1-2, 0-1), who continue league play on Friday at Fairfield Union.
