WILLIAMSPORT — Zane Trace controlled the final few minutes to escape Westfall with a 44-41 win Tuesday.

The score was tied at 31-31 to start the fourth. Westfall got five points from Reese Moehl, three from Tara Wolfe and two from Grace Wolfe to get out in front 41-35 midway through the final period.

From that point on, the Pioneers kept the Mustangs from scoring and chipped away at the lead.

With 1:03 to play, a free throw from Gracey McCullough made it a one-point game. About 10 seconds later, the Mustangs turned the ball over and the ensuing possesion ended with ZT’s Kendra Detillion scoring her only basket of the night which put her Pioneers in the lead.

Kinley May added two free throws for ZT – her only points off the night as well – with 16 seconds left.

The Mustangs’ last chance to tie the game was off the mark and ZT’s Emily Allen grabbed the rebound as the clock wound down to zeroes.
