Pickaway County took top billing on Tuesday in the boys pole vault during the first day of competition at a Division II Southeast District meet held at Washington Court House.
Westfall’s Tyler Shipley won a district title in the pole vault at 12-10, with Circleville’s Zach Buitendorp following in second at 12-06 feet.
The Logan Elm 3200 relay team (Keegan Kidd, Scott Gaskin, Gage Arnett and Drew Tomlinson) advanced to regional by finishing fourth in 8:55.06.
Through four of 17 events, Zane Trace leads with 28 points and Hillsboro is second with 15. Logan Elm is seventh with 12 points, Westfall ninth with 10 points and Circleville 10th with nine points.
Westfall’s Ashley Hegarty took top billing on the girls side by winning a district title in the high jump at 5-02 feet in a tiebreaker over Wheelersburg’s Gracie Perkins.
The Circleville 3200 relay team (Morgan Blakeman, Maddux Bigam, Audrey Fausnaugh and Ellie Patrick) finished as district runner-up in 10:41.91 and Logan Elm (Kinley Whited, Ella Borland, Josie Martin and Camryn Ross) also advanced to regional in the event by finishing fourth in 11:11.36.
Logan Elm’s Olivia Adams finished as the district runner-up in the shot put at 36-02.75 feet.
Through three of 17 events, Wheelersburg is in first with 22 points, followed by Logan Elm with 17 points and Westfall with 12. Circleville is in eighth with eight points.
Action concludes on Saturday in the Fayette County seat.
Central District
Teays Valley’s Natalie Newton finished third in the pole vault at 11-feet on Tuesday and also advanced to regional in the long jump by finishing fourth in 17-04.50 feet in a Division I meet at Hilliard Darby.
The Vikings are second overall in the girls field with 18.5 points after the field events. Watkins Memorial is currently in fourth with 41 points.
