Much to be thankful for

Dear Friends,

Thank you.

Nearly three months ago we started a new journey, to transform a basic sports blog into a media website dedicated to providing high school sports coverage to Amanda-Clearcreek, Circleville, Logan Elm, New Hope Christian, Teays Valley and Westfall high schools.

We wanted to step up our game coverage and expand it past the so-called “major” sports of football and basketball. We also wanted to go beyond the scores and allow you to get to know some of the student-athletes that we have the privilege to cover and share stories that even we weren’t aware of originally with our digital ink.

And the community has embraced Sporting Pumpkin in a big way.

I want to personally thank you for reading Sporting Pumpkin and continuing to spread the word about where to turn for the best high school sports coverage in Pickaway and southwest Fairfield counties. We have received a lot of positive feedback from the community over the past three months, and we truly appreciate you and your support of area high school athletics.

Sporting Pumpkin generated 24,533 views from 10,899 visitors during the first month of that transition in September. The website generated 26,103 views from 12,252 visitors in October and has already been viewed 21,601 times by 11,457 visitors with a week to go this month.

We also debuted a newly designed website in October that is easier to navigate and, frankly, more professional, from our humble beginnings as a blog co-founded by John Howley and I in August 2020.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank our community partners. We have nine area businesses who bought into our vision and wanted to support increased coverage of high school athletics.

• Health Care Logistics

• Roese Bros. Paving

• Ink My Logo

• Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center

• Leist Mercantile

• Kingston National Bank

• Rhoads Garden Center and Landscaping

• Anderson Insurance

• Atomic Credit Union

I began working full-time on the website when we made this transition in September and that would not have been possible without the financial support from our community partners.

With a successful launch over the last half of fall sports, we now transition indoors for the winter with basketball, wrestling, bowling, swimming, competitive cheerleading and gymnastics.

Sporting Pumpkin is a platform where we want to share the success of our area student-athletes with the community.

Unfortunately, we are unable to be at every event that takes place during the winter, but we encourage coaches to submit results of events we are not at to sportingpumpkin@gmail.com. We want to promote your team and student-athletes to the community.

Results will either be featured as a story on the website or under The Daily Blog.

We are also looking to expand our team of community partners. If your business would be interested in supporting our coverage of area high school sports, we offer three advertising packages that start at $150 per month. Please contact me at bradmorrisjournalist@gmail.com for more information.

Sporting Pumpkin would like to wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving and holiday season.

Editor/Co-Founder, Sporting Pumpkin
