Teays Valley was the host site on Saturday for the upper bracket of a Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association district tournament.
The team dual tournament was previously administered by the Ohio High School Athletic Association before the COVID-19 pandemic but has reverted back to the coaches’ association, which originally started the tournament.
Teays Valley lost a semifinal match on criteria 37-36 to future Ohio Capital Conference Buckeye Division foe Lancaster before routing another future OCC-Buckeye foe, Newark, 53-24 in a consolation match.
Olentangy Liberty defeated Lancaster 55-21 in the final to earn a spot in the state tournament.
Gunner Havens (113 pounds) and Camden McDanel (190) won both of their matches by pin for the Vikings. Aiden Kennedy (157) also earned two wins, one by pin and the other by technical fall, and Ethan Schwalbauch (175) won by forfeit and pin.
The Vikings travel to Bloom-Carroll on Friday for the Mid-State League Buckeye Division championship tournament.
