Braves earn first win of the season

Logan Elm swept the singles courts on Thursday in a 4-1 non-league win over visiting Miami Trace.

“I was pleased with how we worked through difficult situations and stayed focused,” Logan Elm coach Tony Clouse said. “We are two matches into the season and we have shown so much improvement, but we aren’t satisfied. We will keep working.”

Owen Braun recorded a 6-0 and 6-1 win at first singles over Miami Trace’s Jacob Pettit-Denado, Logan Elm’s Jude Schaal topped Miami Trace’s Carter Bainter 7-6 and 6-4 at second singles and Logan Elm teammate Maggie Wilson dispatched Bloghan Cooper 6-1 and 6-0 at third singles.

The Logan Elm first doubles team of Will Higginbotham and Sam Braun bounced back from a first set loss to outlast Tucker Dalton and Robbie Bennett 6-7, 6-1 and 7-6.

Jacob Cline and Jonah Goddard scored the lone point for the Panthers by defeating Maddox Arledge and Mason Wolfe 3-6, 7-6 and 6-1 in second doubles.

The Braves (1-1) resume Mid-State League Buckeye Division play on Monday when they travel to Circleville.
