Braves cage “dangerous” Tigers with 4-1 league win

Logan Elm swept the doubles courts on Monday on its way to a 4-1 Mid-State League Buckeye Division win over host Circleville.

“We came out strong against what I consider dangerous team. Circleville has quality players that will only get better throughout the season,” Logan Elm coach Tony Clouse sad. “After having a few days off due to weather and the weekend, I was concerned that we might come out flat. I was happy that we were focused and ready to go.

“We have three more matches over the next three days, so starting off with a win helps us gain some momentum moving forward.”

The LE first doubles team of Maddox Arledge and Mason Wolfe defeated Justin Darnell and Carlos Vasquez 6-3 and 6-1. The LE second doubles squad of Will Higginbotham and Sam Braun recorded a 6-0 and 6-1 win over Slater Search and Liam Goodhart.

Logan Elm’s Jude Schaal captured a 6-3 and 6-0 win at second singles against Reid Seimetz and LE teammate Maggie Wilson defeated Sabrina Funk 6-1 and 6-2 at third singles.

Grant Pinkerton earned the lone point for the Tigers with a straight set win of 6-4 and 6-4 at first singles over Owen Braun.

The Braves (2-1, 1-1) continue league play today when they host Hamilton Township.
