Braves claim season series against Panthers

Logan Elm prevailed in a marathon second singles match on Monday en route to a 4-1 non-league win over host Miami Trace.

“It was a great night for some tennis,” Logan Elm coach Tony Clouse said. “Miami Trace really pushed us tonight.

“We had to refocus many times to get the win. We are closer to where we want to be as a team, but there’s still gap we need to close if we want more success this season.”

Jude Schaal came back from a first set loss to defeat Miami Trace’s Carter Bainter 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 at second singles.

Logan Elm’s Owen Braun prevailed 6-2 and 6-3 at first singles over Jacob Pettit and LE teammate Maggie Wilson turned in a 6-1 and 6-4 win at third singles against Kaiden Howard.

The LE second doubles team of Will Higginbotham and Scott Gaskin defeated Tucker Walton and Robbie Bennett 7-5 and 6-4.

Jonah Goddard and Jacob Cline recorded the lone point for the Panthers with a 6-7, 7-6 and 10-5 win at first doubles over Maddox Arledge and Mason Wolfe.

The Braves (5-1) continue non-league play on Wednesday when they host Logan.
