Braves double up Falcons

Sadie Binkley allowed two hits and an earned run over six innings on Wednesday to help Logan Elm to an 8-4 Mid-State League Buckeye Division win over visiting Fairfield Union.

The freshman right-hander walked three and struck out seven.

Meredith Jarvis reached on an error that allowed Lynsay VanHoose to score and Taylor Fowler lined a 0-1 offering to right field for a two-run double that scored courtesy runner Hannah Gooley and Jarvis.

The Braves tacked on an insurance run in the fourth when Addie Smith lined a single to center and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly to left off the bat of VanHoose.

Logan Elm extended its lead to 6-1 in the fifth when Tia Fowler lined a two-run single to right that chased home Ryleigh Wolfe and Jarvis, who both previously reached on a pair of singles.

The Braves scored their final two runs in the sixth, while the Falcons scored the final three runs of the game in the seventh.

Taylor Fowler went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, Jarvis singled and scored three times and Tia Fowler singled and drove in two runs to pace the Braves (5-4, 2-2), who continue league play on Friday at Bloom-Carroll.
