Vikings sweep county championships

Teays Valley cruised to Pickaway County championships on Tuesday night at Westfall in both boys and girls track and field.

The Vikings amassed 102.5 points on the boys side, followed by Logan Elm (59.5), Westfall (48) and Circleville (29).

Teays Valley accumulated 97 points to lead the girls field, followed by Logan Elm (57), Circleville (50) and Westfall (36).


Teays Valley’s Griffin Gray won the 100 in 11.93 and Jerry O’Dell struck gold in the 3200 in 11:03.22.

Dominic Dean took first in the high jump at 5-10 feet and Eli Tan prevailed in the long jump at 19-08.50 feet.

The 400-relay team (Jackson Perry, Gray, Caiden Sanders and Jayden Woods) took top-billing in 46.17, the 1600-relay team (Connor Dean, Filippo Giotto, Drew Moore and Hayden Hodges) turned in a gold time of 3:42.49 and the 3200-relay team (O’Dell, Dean, Giotto and Owen Hoffhines) prevailed in 9:09.53.

The Braves swept the hurdles with Nate Edge taking the 110 in 16.46 and Drew Tomlinson claiming the 300 in 43.22. Lane Renier won the discus with a heave of 121-08 feet.

The 800-relay team (Andrew Pryor, Luke Thompson, Tomlinson and Allen Boerner) won a county crown in 1:38.00.

Westfall’s Montae Sutton prevailed in the 200 in 23.99, Josh Trapp topped the 400 field in 52.67 and Henry Barnes claimed county titles in the 800 (2:11.99) and 1600 (4:48.67).

Jeremiah Layton won gold in the shot put with a toss of 41-06.25 feet.

Teays Valley’s Ryleigh McCoy prevailed in the 200 in 27.24 and also won a county title in the 400 in 1:02.02. Sophia Seymour swept the hurdles, claiming the 100 in 18.48 and the 300 in 52.35, and also won the discus with a heave of 109-09 feet.

Brooklyn Herbert claimed a county title in the high jump at five-feet and Lauren Sharrock won the long jump at 15-09 feet.

The 3200-relay team of Kate Charter, Katy Zang, Elizabeth Hess and Evie Layton turned in a county winning time of 11:50.29.

Logan Elm’s Vera Henderly claimed top billing in the 1600 in 5:52.94.


Circleville’s Faith Yancey won the 100 in 13.05 and Taegan Retherford prevailed in the shot put with a toss of 29-11.25 feet.

The 400-relay team of Sydney Lattimer, Isabelle Perini, Payton Ford and Yancey won a county title in 52.91. the 800-relay team of Emma Groff, Kaylin Mankin, Bella Morningstar and Mya Nardi prevailed in 1:58.45 and the 1600-relay team of Morningstar, Morgan Blakeman, Ellie Patrick and Maddux Bigam claimed first in 4:27.00.


Westfall’s Caitlyn Shipley struck gold in the 800 in 2:30.71 and Anay Sierra won the 3200 in 13:09.04.
