Vikings sweep Cavaliers in first indoor home match

Coach Sheila Clements always describes the weather conditions on the score sheet she keeps for the Teays Valley boys tennis team.

With temperatures hovering in the mid-40s and graupel mixing in with rain as evening approached, Clements needed just one word to describe the weather.

Fortunately, with the new fieldhouse, the Vikings now have an alternative when the elements don’t allow them to play outside.

The Vikings swept all five courts in the first indoor home match played in program history on their way to a 5-0 non-league win over the Chillicothe Cavaliers.

The TV first doubles team of Luke Burgett and McCoy Samlow defeated Colin Halm and Kaiden Koch 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3. The TV second doubles team of Abby Baker and Nolan Lupfer bounced back from a first set loss to outlast Allisom Remley and Judea Harding 3-6, 6-1 and 1-0 (4).
