Amanda-Clearcreek socked three home runs on Wednesday on its way to a 14-5 win over host Fairbanks in a Division III Central District sectional final.
Megan Tooill went 3-for-4 and scored three times and Haley Robinson hit a pair of home runs as part of a monster 3-for-5 evening with five RBI and two runs scored to lead the Aces. Cassadee Steinmetz was 2-for-4, including a two-run homer, with two RBI and a run scored.
The Aces scored three runs in the third to take the lead for good at 6-4 over the Panthers (13-12).
Robinson led off the inning with a single to center and courtesy runner Kaylee Roberts advanced to third when Megan Tooill reached on a fielder’s choice and subsequent error.
Martin then singled to center to drive in both runners.
After a fly out, back-to-back singles by Steinmetz and Braeleigh Blosser allowed Martin to cross the dish.
The Aces took control of the game with a six-run fourth.
Averie Hutchison reached on an error to open the inning and scored when Robinson smashed a two-run shot over the center field fence.
Tooill singled to center and scored two outs later when Steinmetz wacked a two-run homer over the center field fence.
A trio of errors allowed Blosser and Hailey Sowers to reach base and then score, stretching the A-C lead to 12-4.
Steinmetz tossed a complete game to record the win for the Aces (9-11), who host Hamilton Township on Thursday and then travel to Fairfield Union on Saturday for Mid-State League Buckeye Division makeup games.
Amanda-Clearcreek resumes tournament play on Monday, traveling to top-seeded Johnstown (22-2) for a district semifinal.
The Aces lost a doubleheader by scores of 8-2 and 6-0 to the Johnnies early last month.
