Tigers in third after first day of district championships

The Circleville girls are in third following the first day of competition on Tuesday at a Division II Southeast District meet held at Washington Court House.

Through three events scored, McClain leads the field with 24 points, followed by Wheelersburg (22) and the Tigers (14.5).

The 3200-relay team of Maddux Bigam, Morgan Blakeman, Ava Justice and Ellie Patrick won a district title in 10:15.18.

Logan Elm is in sixth with eight points.

The 3200-relay team of Kinley Whited, Camryn Ross, Chloe Anderson and Vera Henderly finished third in 10:25.30.

Zane Trace leads the boys field through four events with 25 points, followed by Unioto (19) and Circleville (18).

Zach Buitendorp finished as a district runner-up in the pole vault at 12-06 feet, losing on tiebreaker criteria against Zane Trace’s Zane Pickerrell. Circleville teammate Christian Kellough was fourth at 11-06 feet to also advance to regional.

Logan Elm is in eighth with 10 points.

Luke Thompson was third in the pole vault at 11-06 feet.

Westfall is in ninth with eight points.

The 3200-relay team of Henry Barnes, Mason Barnes, Tyler Yates and Josh Trapp claimed bronze in 8:39.49.

Action concludes on Saturday at Washington Court House.
