Tigers set new program record in season-opener

Setting a new program record is never a bad way to start a season.

And that’s what the Circleville Tigers accomplished on Thursday with they set a new nine-hole program record of 162 to win McClain’s Adam Sharp Invitational held at Buckeye Hills Golf Club.

The Tigers topped the five-school field by a whopping 53 strokes. McClain followed in second with 215 and Wilmington took third with 227.

Senior Elaina Seeley also turned in a record performance, setting a new nine-hole program record with a scorecard of 33 to win medalist honors.

Isabelle Perini followed with 38, Izzy Seeley had 40, Lis Sharp shot 51 and Aleigh Michael turned in a 75 in her first varsity match.

“The girls did a great job of avoiding the big number on the course for the most part today, and we had four birdies as a team to help balance things out,” Circleville coach Eric Evans said. “Elaina was outstanding playing a bogey-free round, as well.”

The Tigers hit the road again on Friday when they play in the Fairfield Union Invitational.
