Wrestling roundup: Tigers win in Utica, Vikings third at Watkins, Braves and Mustangs top 10 at Pleasant, Aces compete at New Lex

UTICA — Circleville had four champions and a wrestler place in every weight class in winning the 12-team Mike Garven Wrestling Classic at Utica High School. 

The Tigers amassed 335 points with Lake finishing second with 270 and host Utica third at 159.5.

Andrew Siembida has a second-round pin to win the title at 106 pounds. 

Landen Zarbaugh pinned his opponent in 1:01 to win the 120-pound title. 

Jacob Johnson needed less than a minute to pin his opponent and with the title at 138 pounds. 

Caihden Morgan pinned his opponent early in the second round to win the heavyweight title. 

Drace Johnson was third at 113 pounds, Lucifer Donaldson was third at 126, Jon Perez was third at 132, Ayden Reedy was second at 144, Tristan Scarberry was fourth at 150, Noah Jones was third at 157, Logan Holbrook took second at 165, Ayden Blue was second at 175, David Northam was fifth at 190 and Braylon Morgan was second at 215. 

The Tigers host the Clay Davis Memorial Saturday.

Vikings third at Watkins Memorial

PATASKALA — Teays Valley had 10 wrestlers place in finishing third over the weekend at the Mason Boyd Memorial Invitational hosted by Watkins Memorial. 

Springboro won the 15-team tournament with 259.5 points with Harrison taking second with 223 and the Vikings third with 185. 

Josh Zimmer won a major decision in the final to claim the 120-pound title for the Vikings. 

John Todhunter was fourth at 106 pounds, Carson Hix was third at 113, Calvin Videkavich was sixth at 126, Brandon Travis took fifth at 132, Aiden Kennedy was second at 157, Peter Graham was fourth at 165, Cole Stevens was sixth at 175, Ethan Schwalbauch was third at 190 and Tristian Graham was fifth at 285 for the Vikings. 

The Vikings are back in action Wednesday night hosting Newark.

Braves fourth, Mustangs seventh at Pleasant

MARION — Logan Elm took fourth and Westfall was seventh at the 21-team Sally George Invitational hosted by Pleasant High School over the weekend. 

Elgin won the two-day event with a score of 174.5 points and Ontario was second with 160, Pleasant was third with 158 and the Braves were fourth with 157. The Mustangs were seventh with 121 points. 

Gavin Hoover pinned his opponent in the 126-pound finals to take the title for LE. 

Ayden Hudson was fourth at 106 pounds for LE, Dawsen Hudson was third at 113, David Little was fourth at 138, Bryce Perkins was fourth at 165, Blaine Holzschuh was fifth at 120, Nehemiah Hess was fifth at 132 and Conner Green was fifth at 285. 

Bryce Wickline was the top finisher for Westfall winning a 4-3 decision to take the title at 175 pounds. 

Brady Speakman was sixth for the Mustangs at 106 and John Siders was sixth at 285.

Aces 18th at New Lex

NEW LEXINGTON — Amanda-Clearcreek placed 18th at the 31-team Jimmy Wood Invitational hosted by New Lexington. 

Barnesville won the tournament with 339.5 points while St. Francis DeSales was second with 318 and New Lexington was third with 218. The Aces finished with 98 points.

Peyton Beavers was the Aces’ top finisher taking second place at 157 pounds. 

Jacob Durr was fourth at 120 pounds, Rees Lown was sixth at 132 and Bodie Martin was sixth at 150.

AC will next be in action on Feb 9 at the Mid-State League championships being held at Circleville High School.
