Tigers third at Clay Davis; Vikings fall in dual, 11th at Logan; LE wins CW tournament

Gallia Academy edged out Clinton-Massie to win the 14-team Clay Davis Memorial Wrestling Tournament Saturday with host Circleville taking third. 

Gallia Academy finished with 225 points while Clinton Massie had 219.5 and Circleville had 182. Chillicothe was fourth with 105.5.

Lucifer Donaldson was the lone champion for the host Tigers as he took the title at 120 pounds pinning Clinton Massie’s Evan Jett in eight seconds in the finals. 

Jon Perez (126 pounds) and Noah Jones (157 pounds) each placed second. 

Three Tigers finished third — Andrew Siembida (106), Drace Johnson (113) and Tristan Scarberry (144).

Circleville also had four wrestlers place fourth — Logan Holbrook (165), Aiden Blue (175), David Northam (190) and Caihden Morgan (285).

Circleville returns to the mats Friday when they host the Mid-State League Buckeye Division championships.

Vikings in action across the state

Teays Valley had wrestlers north and south of Ashville Saturday. 

The crew that went north was competing in the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association Duals tournament. 

TV faced off against Olentangy Liberty in the opening round and won only three matches in falling to the Patriots 62-17. John Todhunter (106), Carson Hix (113) and Tristian Graham (285) won their matches for TV. 

The Vikings dropped their second match 46-34 to Mount Vernon.

Todhunter (106), Josh Zimmer (120), Brandon Travis (132), Logan Lambert (138)Aiden Flowers (190) and Tristian Graham (285) won their matches against MV.

The squad that went south placed 11th in the 15-team Logan Wrestling Invitational Saturday.

Bloom-Carroll won the title with 274 points with Logan second at 211 and Fairfield Union third at 167. The Vikings finished with 81 points. 

Trevor Bridges was second for the Vikings at 106 pounds, Sam Bristle was sixth at 113, Brian Jordan was fourth at 150, Waylen Roese was fourth at 165, John Bowley was fifth at 175 and Logan Keffer was sixth at 215. 

The Vikings will be in action Friday at the Mid-State League championships at Circleville.

CANAL WINCHESTER — Logan Elm placed seven wrestlers Saturday on the way to winning the 21-team Cameron Cross Invitational at Canal Winchester.

The Braves scored 223.5 points to edge out Westland which had 220. Canton South was third with 208.

Three Braves claimed titles with Dawsen Hudson winning at 113 pounds, Blaine Holzschuh at 120 and Gavin Hoover at 126.

Ayden Hudson was second at 106 and Hunter Schoenborn was second at 150.

Nehemiah Hess was fourth at 132 and Bryce Perkins was fourth at 165.
