Baseball report: Tigers top Aces; HT clips Braves; Vikings fall 1-0; Bearcats score late to beat Mustangs

BB — Circleville 10, Amanda-Clearcreek 4

CIRCLEVILLE — Amanda-Clearcreek pulled to within a run before Circleville added five more to its total for a 10-4 win Monday. 

The Aces (4-11, 1-8) scored first Monday when a two-out error allowed Leland Riley to score in the top of the first inning. 

After two Tigers walked in the second, Glavine Bigam hit a two-run double to put CHS up 2-1. 

Circleville (6-7, 5-4) took advantage of AC’s pitching woes in the third. 

The Aces used four pitchers in the bottom of the third as Circleville added three runs to its total. Brody Brisker had the big hit with a two-run double. The other CHS run was scored when Bigam was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Aces added two runs in the fourth when – with two outs and the bases loaded – Breece Stone scored on a passed ball and then Brody Elder scored on a wild pitch. 

In the fifth, AC closed to 5-4 when Peyton Beavers singled, took second on a passed ball and went to third on a balk before scoring on a ground out by Cole Schif. 

In the bottom of the inning, Bigam drew a one-out walk and then Trent Smith doubled. Bigam then scored on an error on a pickoff attempt.

Drew Thornsley was hit by a pitch and Austin Gray walked to load the bases. Lane Adams then walked to force in a run. Brisker was hit by a pitch to force in another run and make it 8-4 in favor of Circleville. 

Circleville started off the sixth with singles from Kole Nungester and Kaiden Bigley. 

With one out, Trent Smith doubled to drive in the two base runners. 

Smith started for the Tigers and went five innings. He allowed four unearned runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Bigley pitched two scoreless innings, striking out one. 

Riley started for the Aces and went two batters into the third. He gave up four runs on two hits with four walks and a strikeout. Schif pitched a third of an inning giving up a run on one hit and walk. Gary Kemmerling pitched a third of an inning – walking one and striking out one. Brody Elder pitched the final 3.1 innings for AC. He allowed five runs on four hits with five walks and a strikeout. 

BB — Hamilton Township 10, Logan Elm 5

OBETZ — Hamilton Township got out in front early on the way to a 10-5 win over Logan Elm Monday. 

An error to start HT’s first at-bat was followed by a double, a walk, a single, another double, another single and a sacrifice fly to put HT (10-3, 5-3) up 5-0. 

Four more hits, a walk and sac fly in the third saw HT go up 10-0. 

The Braves (6-7, 4-4) broke through with a run in the fifth, three in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Colton Eplin had two of LE’s five hits and drove in two runs. 

Eplin also was the starter for the Braves, and he went three batters into the third inning. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits with two walks and a strikeout. 

Dylan Neff pitched an inning giving up two runs on two hits with a walk. Brady Neff pitched the final three innings walking two and striking out three. 

BB — Liberty Union 1, Teays Valley 0

ASHVILLE — Liberty Union pushed a run across the plate in the top of the seventh to escape Teays Valley with a 1-0 win Monday. 

Justin Sisson led of LU’s seventh with a double. After a strikeout, Sisson stole third and was able to score on a passed ball.

Sisson’s double was one of only four hits for the Lions (3-8, 2-6). 

TV (5-9, 3-3) had five hits in the game with Jeremiah Fabbro collecting two of them. 

Brody Mann started for TV and pitched six scoreless innings. He allowed three hits with two walks and struck out 11. Gavin Gilpen took the loss in relief as he gave up the lone run on one hit with a strikeout. 

BB — Paint Valley 7, Westfall 5

WILLIAMSPORT — Paint Valley scored seven times in the last two innings to leave Westfall with a 7-5 win Monday. 

Westfall opened the game’s scoring when Brenden Tuttle had a leadoff double in the bottom of the first, stole third and scored on an error. 

In the third innings, Cade Hall opened the inning with a single and scored on a triple from Tuttle. A sacrifice fly from Brady Mullins gave Westfall a 3-0 lead. 

Paint Valley’s comeback started in the sixth when three of its first four batters reached – one hit by a pitch and two on walks. A wild pitch brought in the first run and then an error allowed two more runs to score and tie the game. 

With one out in the seventh, the Bearcats (8-9, 3-7) got runners on with a single and a walk. An error on a fielder’s choice allowed the batter to reach safely and two runs to score. 

After a walk, a bunt led to two more runs scoring and putting PV up 7-3. 

The Mustangs (4-8, 4-4) had a bit of a two-out rally in the bottom of he seventh. Trent Walters and Michael Harwood had each singled. Walters advanced to third with a stolen base and, with two outs, stole home. A single by Noah Stonerock brought in Harwood. The rally ended with a strikeout. 

Tuttle, Stonerock and Walters each had two hits for the Mustangs. 

Tuttle started for the Mustangs and went 5.1 innings. He allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits with six walks and eight strikeouts. 

Trent Gardner pitched an inning in relief. He gave up two runs on a hit, a walk and struck out two.

Cory Green pitch two-thirds of an inning. He gave up two runs with a walk and a strikeout.
