Logan Elm 41, Liberty Union 21
CIRCLEVILLE — Kicking off Saturday morning with a field soaked from Hurricane Helene, Logan Elm relied mainly on its running game in taking down Liberty Union 41-21.
Michael Bock got the bulk of the work for the Braves as he carried the ball 38 times for 282 yards. If that wasn’t enough, he also scored all six Logan Elm touchdowns.
Bock scored on runs of nine and one yards in the first quarter, had a pair of two-yard scores in the second, had an eight-yard score in the third and capped the effort with a 32-yard score in the fourth.
Maggie Wilson connected on five her six PAT kicks for the Braves.
LE had gone out in front 21-0 when LU’s Caleb Hague caught a 29-yard touchdown Noah Shook late in the second quarter.
A good kick return gave the Braves the opportunity for another quick drive and Bock scored his fourth TD of game with six seconds left and LE led 27-7 at halftime.
The Lions scored twice in the fourth quarter.
Hague had a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown three minutes into the fourth.
A low snap on LE’s first play after the LU score resulted in the Lions getting the ball at the LE 12. That set up Shook to connect with Cooper Meacham on a 15-yard TD pass with 7:47 left.
Bock’s sixth touchdown three minutes later wrapped up the game’s scoring.
Aaron Walters was 10-16 passing for the Braves and he connected with seven different receivers.
Keegan Diehl had 55 yards on one catch and Justin Marcum had 41 yards on a pair of grabs.
Joshua Hunter and Ne’miah Waugh each had interceptions for the Braves.
Shook was 9-19 passing for 152 yards for the Lions.
The Braves (5-1, 3-0) have a big MSL showdown next week at Bloom-Carroll (5-1, 3-0) with first place in the Buckeye Division on the line.
Westfall 11, Southeastern 8
WILLIAMSPORT — Not only did Friday’s game get pushed back a day, it also got moved from Southeastern to Westfall.
Playing less-than-ideal conditions, the Mustangs kicked a late field goal to take down the Panthers 11-8.
Southeastern scored with 3:21 left in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead that stood at halftime.
Westfall tied the game in the third and won the game with a field goal in the final minute.
The Mustangs (2-4, 1-2) host Zane Trace (3-3, 3-0) Friday.
Marietta 21, Circleville 17
MARIETTA — Marietta scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to beat Circleville 21-17 Friday night.
The Tigers got on the board first with a 53-yard touchdown run from Drew Thornsley in the first quarter.
Marietta scored late in the half, but Thornsley blocked the PAT kick to keep Circleville up.
Kaden Paxton capped the half with a 30-yard field goal for a 10-6 Tigers’ lead at the break.
Hudson Phalin connected with Ben Rolfe midway through the third on a nine-yard score for a 17-6 Circleville advantage.
Marietta scored on a 19-yard TD pass on the first play of the fourth quarter and had a successful two-point conversion to close to 17-14.
A 41-yard TD pass from Drew Warden to Lucas Miller with 52 seconds left capped Marietta’s comeback.
Thornsley carried the ball 30 times for 177 yards.
Phalin was 20-32 passing for 173 yards.
Jack Kline had six catches for 51 yards and Kole Nungester had six grabs for 72 yards.
Marietta had 235 passing yards and picked up 91 on the ground.
Circleville (3-3, 0-2) returns home to host HamiltonTownship (3-3, 1-1) Friday.
Hamilton Township 25, Amanda-Clearcreek 24
OBETZ — Hamilton Township nipped visiting Amanda-Clearcreek 25-24 Saturday.
The Aces were first on the board with a touchdown late in the first quarter.
A pair of touchdown passes from Lucas King to Jovon McBride in the second quarter put the Rangers up 12-7.
AC added a 40-yard field goal from Hayden Dunn just before halftime to make it a 12-10 game.
King broke off a 72-yard run early in the third to put HT up 19-10.
AC scored midway through the third and went back on top with another TD on the first play of the fourth quarter for a 24-19 lead.
With 6:19 left in the game, King connected with Daviace Packnett for a four-yard TD. A two-point attempt failed leaving HT up 25-24.
The Aces (3-3, 1-2) head up I-71 to Richland County Friday to take on Lucas (3-3).
