LE holding HOF inductions

Logan Elm High School will be adding four new members to its athletic hall of fame before tonight’s varsity boys basketball game with Liberty Union. 

Cory Heeter and Dillon Young (Class of 2014), Stephen Saxton (Class of 2016) and former head football coach Scott Bartholomew are slated to be inducted. 

The ceremony will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Cory Heeter – Class of 2014 

Cory Heeter was one of Logan Elm’s outstanding athletes earning seven varsity letters — three in basketball and four in football. 

As a running back, he had one of the most impressive single games in Logan Elm history when he rushed for 374 yards and seven touchdowns against Athens in 2013.

After graduation from Logan Elm, Heeter attended Capital University and continued playing football. Heeter was the team captain for three years and was a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference recipient. Currently, he is a teacher and football coach at Logan Elm High School. He is the son of Scott and Becky Heeter and lives in Circleville with his wife, Kayley, and two daughters, Willow and Stella. 

Dillon Young – Class of 2014 

Dillon Young earned six varsity letters at Logan Elm — three in basketball, two in soccer and one in football. While earning all-league and all-district honors in three different sports, Young is mostly known as one of Logan Elm’s most outstanding basketball players.

After graduation from Logan Elm, Young attended Marietta College and continued playing basketball. Young earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference status in 2016 (second team), 2017 (honorable mention) and first team All–OAC in 2018. He also was Academic All-OAC in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Young scored 1,242 career points at Marietta and holds school records for career three-point percentage (46.8 percent) and season free throw percentage (92.1 percent). 

Young graduated from Marietta College in 2018 with a degree in business. He currently works in the family business, Young’s Family Market. Young states that he is very close with his family, and it is a blessing to work alongside them in the community he cares for. He is the son of Brad and Susan Young and resides in Laurelville. 

Stephen Saxton – Class of 2016 

Stephen Saxton was one of Logan Elm’s outstanding athletes earning seven varsity letters — three in football, three in basketball and one in track and field. A well-rounded athlete, Saxton was a highly recognized football player earning league, district and state honors. 

Basketball 
• Honorable Mention All-Mid-State League – 2015 
• Second Team All-Mid-State League – 2016 

Track and Field 
• Southeast District – 1st Team – 4×400 Meter Relay – 2016 
• State Qualifier – 4×400 Meter Relay – 2016 

Football 
• Second Team All-Mid State League – 2014

Saxton holds, or has held, several Logan Elm High School records:

After graduation from Logan Elm, Saxton enlisted in the Ohio National Guard and enrolled at Ohio University. While at Ohio University, Saxton was a member of the Ohio University Army ROTC and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In 2020, Saxton was placed on active duty and ordered to Fort Gregg-Adams to attend the Basic Officer Leadership Course. 

From February 2021 to February 2023, Saxton served as a distribution platoon leader and a company executive officer for the Golf Forward Support Company. During this time, Saxton was deployed in Poland in support of Operation European Assure in support the 101st Airborne and 10th Mountain Division in Poland, Germany, Romania and Armenia while providing aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In September 2024, Saxton was promoted to the rank of Captain and is now stationed at Fort Liberty as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He is the son of Jon and Angie Saxton. 

Scott Bartholomew – Head Football Coach 

Scott Bartholomew retired as head football coach, athletics director and business teacher in 2015 after seven years of service at Logan Elm. 

Coach Bartholomew was the head football coach at Logan Elm from 2008 through 2014. During that time, he had a record of 53-26, (33-16 Mid-State League Buckeye Division). He was the Mid-State League Coach of the year in 2008 and 2011. He led the Braves to playoff appearances in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. 

With 27 years as a head coach. Bartholomew started his head coaching career at Oak Hill High School where he had a record of 52-28. In 1997, he took over at Westfall High School where he led the Mustangs to four Scioto Valley Conference titles and four playoff appearances. His record at Westfall was 61-35. He began his seven-year reign at Logan Elm in 2008. That year he took over a team that was 0-10 the previous season and went 10-0 in the regular season, 12-1 overall, winning the Mid State League Buckeye Division title and finishing the season as regional runner-up. That same year, Bartholomew was named by the Associated Press as the Division III State Coach of the Year. 

Soon after retiring from Logan Elm, Coach Bartholomew was an assistant coach for his son, Wade, at Bloom-Carroll for seven years. From 2022-2024, Coach Bartholomew was the head football coach at Chillicothe High School where he had a record of 10-21 taking the Cavaliers to the playoffs in 2022. 

Over his career, he was named the conference coach of the year six times. He was a district coach of the year five times and state coach of the year once. His overall career record is 176-110. Scott Bartholomew has been married to his wife, Karla, for 40 years. They have five children: Ashley, Wade, Brooke, Reagan and Ashton. They also have seven grandchildren.
