Tigers take two from Aces; Vikings win pair of OCC matchups; Mustangs sweep Warriors; Braves split with HT

SB — Circleville 7, Amanda-Clearcreek 4

AMANDA — Circleville got on top first and stayed out front all night on the way to a 7-4 win over Amanda-Clearcreek. 

Circleville’s initial run came in the first when an Aces’ error allowed a run to score. 

Two-out RBI singles from Kaylee West and Jenna Boring extended Circleville’s lead to 3-0 in the top of the third. 

The Aces answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single off the bat of Abby King.

Circleville added a run from an RBI single by Rylee Starner in the fifth and had back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the sixth from Claire Davis and Audrey Cowdery to make the score 7-1. 

Casadee Steinmetz brought in two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a double to center to make it 7-3. King had an RBI double in the seventh to finish the game’s scoring. 

Kayle Fleck got the win for the Tigers as she pitched seven innings of four-hit softball. She struck out three, walked three and allowed four runs (two earned). 

Steinmetz went the distance for the Aces. She struck out six, walked three, gave up 10 hits and seven runs (five earned). 

Circleville’s Kayla Fleck held Amanda-Clearcreek to four hits Wednesday night.

SB — Teays Valley 15, Groveport-Madison 1 (5 innings)

ASHVILLE — Teays Valley pounded out 18 hits to stay unbeaten in OCC play with a 15-1 win over visiting Groveport-Madison. 

Makalya Jones led the hit parade going 4-4 with a double and driving in four runs. Alyvia Lawrentz also went 4-4 with a pair of doubles. Harper Grimes was 3-4 with three RBI and scored twice. 

Lawrentz started and pitched three hitless innings. She struck out nine of the 10 batters she faced. Avery Stratton pitched the last two innings in relief. She struck out four, walked two, gave up two hits and allowed one run. 

SB — Logan Elm 9, Hamilton Township 0

CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm limited visiting Hamilton Township to three baserunners Wednesday in taking a 9-0 win. 

Sadie Binkley started and went six innings for the Braves. She struck out nine, didn’t issue a walk and gave up only two singles. Another HT batter reached on an error, but none of the three made it past first base. 

Peyton Richendollar pitched a hitless seventh in relief, striking out one. 

Brittani Lane went 3-3 at the plate, scored three times and drove in two. Richendollar was 2-3, scored twice and drove in one. 

SB — Westfall 5, Adena 4

WILLIAMSPORT — Adena made a late run, but Westfall held off its visitor for a 5-4 win Wednesday.

Three singles, two walks and sacrifice bunt by the Warriors in the top of the seventh closed the gap to 5-4.

Having put Riley Rigsby in the circle to start the seventh, Westfall put the ball back in the hands of starter Adrina Hicks who was able to close the game out. 

Hicks pitched a total of 6.2 innings. She struck out 11, walked two, allowed five hits and gave up one unearned run. Rigsby pitched a third of an inning, walking two, allowing three hits and three earned runs.

BB — Circleville 5, Amanda-Clearcreek 3

AMANDA — Amanda-Clearcreek loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but Circleville was able to get the final two outs for a 5-3 win Wednesday.

With Circleville leading 5-2, Chase Foster started the inning striking out the first batter but walked the next one. Kiser Cassidy was brought on and walked the next two batters to load the bases. He then got Cole Schiff to ground out to second base, which drove in a run, before striking out Andrew Miller to end the game. 

David Northam started for Circleville and got the win with five innings of work. He struck out three, walked two, allowed six hits and gave up two unearned runs.

Northam had two hits for CHS, scored and drove in a run. Foster had a hit and drove in two. 

Andrew Miller started for the Aces and went 2.1 innings striking out four, walking one, allowed three hits and three runs (two earned). Noah Chambers pitched two innings in relief walking one, allowing two hits and an earned run. Dalton Dresbach pitched an inning striking out one, walking one, allowing two hits and an earned run. Cole Schiff pitched the final 1.2 innings for the Aces striking out one, walking one and giving up one hit. 

Breece Stone led AC’s hitter with a pair of singles and a run scored.

BB — Westfall 10, Adena 0 (5 innings)

WILLIAMSPORT — Cash Conrad kept visiting Adena under control as the Westfall hurler struck out 10 and gave up only one hit in a 10-0 win for the Mustangs. 

Conrad also went 2-4 from the leadoff spot with a run scored and two RBI. Jaden Towler had three hits, including a triple, and Rick Hanley had a pair of hits. 

Brenden Tuttle had the big knock of the night as he connected on a three-run homer in the third inning. 

BB — Teays Valley 7, Logan 0

LOGAN — Tyler Matthews pitched six innings on one-hit baseball and Tanner Smith had a hitless seventh to lead Teays Valley to a 7-0 win at Logan Wednesday. 

Matthews struck out seven and walked six while Smith had two strikeouts and a walk. 

The Vikings got out in front with two runs in the first when Matthews drove in Trevor Hamilton with a single to left and Westin Woodrum was able to score on the play as well. 

A Logan error in the fourth allowed TV’s third run. TV added another in fifth, two in the sixth and one more in the seventh. 

Brady Farmer had two hits and scored for the Vikings.

BB — Hamilton Township 8, Logan Elm 7 (8 innings)

CIRCLEVILLE — Logan Elm had the tying run at third with one out but couldn’t get him home as Hamilton Township left with an 8-7 win in eight innings Wednesday. 

The Braves had opened the game with a 3-0 lead, scoring on a passed ball, wild pitch and an RBI single. That lead went to 4-0 in the third when Zane Seimer singled to right to drive in Kelton Bennington. 

The Rangers broke through in the fourth as they started the inning getting base runners on a hit batter and an error. A single drove in their first run and then another single loaded the bases. 

Back-to-back hit batters brought in two more runs and HT tied the game on a ball hit to center field. 

The game stayed tied through seven. 

HT opened the top of the eight with a single and an RBI double. After a sacrifice bunt, another single made it 6-4. After a walk, a popup gave the Rangers two outs and runners on the corners. The runner on first stole second setting up a two-run double from Blaine Sisko to make it 8-4. 

Bennington opened the bottom of the eight with a single. Following a ground out, Seimer singled, and Grant Cline was hit by a pitch to load the bases. 

Keegan Diehl doubled to right to drive in two runs and then Brady Neff singled to drive in Cline and make it 8-7 with Diehl at third and one out. 

That’s when the comeback ended as HT’s James Hennen completed his eight-inning effort getting the next two batters to strikeout swinging. Hennen struck out 11, walked two, gave up 11 hits and all seven runs were earned. 

Mason Gentry went six batters into the fourth inning for the Braves. He struck out four, walked two, allowed four hits and four runs (two earned). Seimer went five innings in relief. He struck out five, walked one, gave up six hits and allowed four earned runs. 

Bennington went 3-4 at the plate and scored three times. Neff and Seimer each went 2-4 with an RBI.
