COLUMBUS — The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the new divisional breakdowns for next school year’s cross country season.
This fall will be the first year for four divisions in cross country following the expansion of other tournaments in the current school year.
The divisions are based on school enrollment figures from the fall of 2023. (Enrollment figures are used for two years when determining divisions and the 2025-26 school year will be the final year in the cycle.)
Because of large disparity in enrollments for the largest schools, Division I includes 71 schools for the boys and 66 for the girls. The other three boys’ divisions range from 163 to 167 schools each and the girls range from 133 to 137 each.
The OHSAA also announced a three-year extension of the contract with Fortress Obetz to host the state championships.
